Sr. Business Analyst, Multi-Channel Retail IT Job in San Francisco 94102, California US
The purpose of this position is to act as the lead agent between retail business and technical IT teams to mine, clarify, and translate retail business requirements into documented system and process options. From options collaborate with IT COE to provide technology solutions to achieve both short and long-term business results. Advance and promote the evaluation, recommendation, business readiness and implementation of best practice solutions in the areas of retail assortment planning, merchandising, distribution/allocation, retail accounting, store operations, and/or business intelligence reporting. Perform as project manager and/or testing lead on assigned AOP cross-functional projects working closely with the retail business partners and IT Centers of Excellence (COE).
Responsibilities
- Act as a liaison and strategic partner between retail IT, boundary IT COE’s, and retail business partners providing subject matter expertise of cross-functional area’s retail business processes and related global systems.
- Assess cost and benefits of business requirements and effectively recommend alternatives and options that are most cost effective while providing the needed functionality.
- Develop and document retail business process flows and requirements for the development of new or enhanced systems.
- Lead and participate in the development, implementation and delivery of assigned projects adhering to our Project Lifecycle Methodology (including Governance, Project Management, Release Management, SDLC Methodology) delivering on-time, within budget.
- Provide accurate project effort estimates and proactively determine if estimates need to be revised throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure that the business is ready to fully utilize new systems development, including leading or participating in testing and assessing risks relative to the readiness of the business to adopt and fully leverage the solution.
- Ensure initiated projects, project deliverables and system enhancements are aligned with both the IT and Business strategies and comply with the necessary IT General Controls for solution delivery.
- Leads Vendor Management efforts if/as required.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (10+ years of combined college education and work experience may be substituted for a degree).
- Minimum 7 years experience as a business analyst or consulting position with knowledge and experience related to business function, preferably in an ERP environment.
- Minimum 3-5 years experience hands-on experience in leading project efforts.
- Experience with one or more major retail software packages (e.g. Retek, SAP Retail, JDA, or Raymark) and advanced to expert knowledge and understanding of multiple retail business areas such as Merchandising, POS, Assortment Planning, Forecasting, Allocation, Replenishment, Finance, Workforce Management, or Business Intelligence.
- Retail experience in multiple countries and models (owned/operated, franchisee, consignment) would be greatly beneficial
Additional Qualifications
- Ability to effectively influence and provide consultation to retail business functional areas to seek new and innovative opportunities, to partner in business planning, and to excel at business operations.
- Demonstrated ability to articulate and develop retail business needs, document these requirements as appropriate, and translate them into IT functional requirements.
- Extensive knowledge of functional business process, enabling technologies, application adoption and capabilities, including integration between systems to provide subject matter expertise to the business.
- Project and/or Test Management on projects ensuring adherence to the IT Project Management Methodology (including Governance, Project Management, Release Management, SDLC Methodology). Success criteria include solution fit, delivering on-time, within budget, and retail business partners’ satisfaction with solution.
- Well-versed in retail best practices and supporting tools related to business analysis, process design and requirements gathering, as well as, industry trends and emerging technologies.
