Sr. Business Analyst recruitment

Business Analysts are responsible for enhancements upgrades to existing applications based on business development and changes, and user requests.  They will also be responsible for production support of all existing applications, including TriplePoint Commodity XL (TPT CXL) and Sungard Entegrate, for which LDH owns source code to both and the BA will have the opportunity to help our development group enhance. Additional systems include TriplePoint Credit Risk (fka Rome) and Vessel Ops (fka Softmar), ZEMA, and SAP.

The role includes requirements gathering from front, middle and back office personnel as well as other IT groups. Requirements must then be built into functional specifications for the IT team. The business analyst will also be required to maintain a project reporting dashboard for management which will contain project timelines and deliverables, tracked against milestone dates. The analyst will be involved in QA with the developers, and delivery of the applications to the user community, including demos and walkthroughs. Some maintenance of IT updates/news/blogs or FAQ’s will also be required as part of the application deployment lifecycle in order to promote and educate the user community about available IT applications, therefore verbal and written communications skills are vital.

The ideal candidate would be able to demonstrate expertise with the following concepts: physical and/or financial commodity transaction life cycle execution, including trading, position Mark-to-Market PL management (including FX exposure), confirmations, master agreements, credit exposure and margin management, scheduling, settlements, invoicing, and accounting. 

Skills/Education/Experience

Solid communication skills

Superb analytical and problem solving skills, Fast learner, ability to work in an energetic and dynamic environment

Track record of taking ownership of issues and being accountable for on-time, on-scope delivery

Commodity (Energy preferred) market experience, especially knowledge of Power, Gas, and Coal markets

Solid Technical Skills (Excel, SQL querying required, experience with RDBMS, ETL packages preferred, Software development experience a plus)

ETRM systems experience required, ETRM implementation experience preferred, ideally with CXL, Softmar, Entegrate, and/or ZEMA

Functional system design principles (usability)

Some management of multiple small concurrent projects

Ability to work independently or as part of a global cross-functional team, depending on the scope of specific projects.

Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a commodities trading environment (bank, merchant, or utility).
