Sr. Buyer Acts as the principal buyer of items of materials, supply, equipment, parts and services. Obtains quotations and accepts bids from vendors at competitive prices consistent with the company quality, quantity, specifications, and delivery requirements. Acts as primary channel of communication between departments and vendors with regard to purchase orders. Reviews procedures within area of responsibility to ensure conformance with requirements, policies and procedures. Performs leads duties as required. Develops adequate sources of supply, solicits bids, and verify vendor quotations for price, quality, required specifications, quantity and expected delivery. Interview potential suppliers representatives and evaluates vendor ability to deliver materials or service major awards. Analyzes bids and obtain technical information from appropriate departments to determine best price, quality, delivery schedule requirements. Negotiate and administer major, high dollar purchases and order requirements for parts, suppliers, raw materials, equipment and services. Negotiate long-term contacts, leases or agreements when necessary to ensure best value (price, payment and freight terms). Consult with legal department to review and approve contracts, identifying and addressing discrepancies; ensure compliance with company?s vendor requirements, no conflict of interest, etc. Compiles and analyzes statistical data to determine method of buying products and to establish price objectives for contract transactions. Obtains data for cost analysis to determine current manufacturing costs. Estimates values according to knowledge of market price. Prepares reports to identify cost reduction. Maintains accurate manual or computerized procurement records, such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance as required. Monitor and evaluate the performance of outsourcing partners. Identify product usage to ensure efficiency and implement improvements when necessary Performs other duties as required Education and Knowledge Bachelor?s degree in Business or related discipline, and 5+ years of job specific work experience in an organization or comparable size and diversity. Experience in a textile manufacturing environment preferred Demonstrated experience negotiating major purchasing contracts Demonstrated experience performing business and data analysis to determine the best course of action to improve department efficiency, control cost, and improve process and procedures. Competencies: Excellent oral, written, presentation and interpersonal communications skills; ability to effectively exercise tact, discretion, judgment and diplomacy when interacting and/or negotiating with internal and external customers, and senior management, etc. Ability to maintain high level of accuracy in all aspects of job function Ability to prioritize demands on resources Ability to communicate with others in antagonistic situations using appropriate interpersonal styles and methods to reduce tension or conflict and maintain professionalism in accordance with corporate standards. Ability to manage situations to which there has been no prior exposure or for which no clear road map exists Ability and willingness to accept responsibility, willingness to challenge established practices and draw relevant conclusions, including the persistence and willingness to take calculated risk, to stimulate, market and sell new ideas within the organization.
