Description:
Position Summary:
We are seeking a well-rounded support technician to provide support for video conferencing, audio visual equipment, desktop hardware, and general support of desktop applications. Opportunity exists to gain knowledge and skills working with multiple systems and applications in support of our user base. We require excellent communication and organizational skills combined with the ability to multi-task.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for the maintenance and support of our video conferencing environment connected to local, wide area networks, and external endpoints. Assist with executive video conferences, setup and support of business meetings and streaming video, central administration and maintenance of all endpoints and the infrastructure components.
2. Image, configure, and deploy PC hardware and peripherals. Perform hardware diagnosis, support, and repairs.
3. Install, configure, provide functional support, and troubleshoot desktop software including Windows 7/XP, Microsoft Office suite 2010/2007, Antivirus software, Internet Explorer 8.0/9.0. Support all business applications including Microsoft SharePoint technology and VPN connectivity.
4. Provide phone, technical, peripheral support for both internal and external network users. Patch management, remote tools, and software deployment using Microsoft’s System Center Configuration Manager.
5. Set up, operate and maintain audio visual equipment used to amplify record and display sound and images at live events. Equipment includes wireless microphones, video recorders, video splitters, projectors, matrix switchers and sound mixing equipment and digital photography.
6. Administrative tasks managing hardware inventory, time tracking, support tickets, and documentation.
Decision-Making Authority/Accountability Level:
Under minimal supervision, this role is expected to work independently on multiple tasks and projects in most phases of desktop technologies. This role, using provided tools and processes, makes decisions based on analysis of data, knowledge of various systems, authentication considerations, and hardware components. Activities involve interaction with internal and external users, group peers, cross-functional teams, and other professionals within IT. This position requires the ability to make quick judgment calls following existing policy and procedure guidelines.
Minimum Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements:
Broad knowledge of Intel based computer hardware and components, video conferencing and audio visual equipment, and digital photography.
Basic problem solving and critical thinking skills, ability to draw accurate conclusions, follow directions, identify root cause leveraging technical and analytical abilities.
Excellent working knowledge of windows operating systems 7 and XP, Microsoft Office suite of products, Internet Explorer, virus software, hardware imaging processes, and use of Microsoft SharePoint technology.
Position requires the ability to work both independently and collectively in a team environment and possess exceptional communication and professional interpersonal skills.
Necessary Activities:
Requires moving and lifting of heavy computer equipment.
