Claim Business Intelligence Analytics is seeking a candidate with a quantitative background to contribute to modeling and analytic projects in the area of Auto Claims Research. The position requires an individual with excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and the ability to explain technical concepts to non technical audiences. Title and level of position are contingent on experience and qualifications. The ideal candidate will be a self starter with a track record of producing advanced / intermediate analytics with limited supervision in a research environment. Above average written and verbal communication skills and self awareness are a must. An aptitude for simultaneously handling multiple priorities is required. Proficiency in synthesizing large amounts of data and summarizing key findings is critical. The ability to make recommendations on alternatives when presented with obstacles is required. Position will conduct quantitative analyses and research, with emphasis on building predictive models, analytics and providing project support for Auto Claim research. Position will serve as a subject matter expert in one or more of the following: -Advanced Statistical analyses -Actuarial and/or research methods -Business knowledge and Auto line of business expertise Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Perform a variety of advanced statistical analyses including data mining and actuarial research techniques. Analyze/interpret data, draw business inferences, develop reports, and explain findings and analysis to target audience. Participate in or take responsibility for routine research projects, and/or supporting analyses on a number of different projects running concurrently. Proactively stay abreast of industry, developments, changing trends and jurisdictional issues. Attend various seminars and conference as appropriate. Education / Work Experience: Candidate should have at least a Masters degree in statistics, mathematics, economics, finance, actuarial science, computer science or the equivalent with 0 to 3 years of relevant work experience. Any suitable combination of education, training and/or work experience would be acceptable. Relevant work experience should be in research and/or advanced analytic work (e.g. predictive modeling). Desired Competencies: Computer Proficiency: Desired Competencies: Ability to read/revise/review a statistical software program (e.g. R, SAS, SPSS); Ability to create intermediate programs from scratch. Business Acumen: Understanding and knowledge of key business areas (e.g. product, enterprise, industry, claim process and competitors) that enable project work. Ability to leverage business knowledge to determine approaches to execution. Strong time management and effective communication skills to support collaboration and knowledge sharing Sound understanding of intermediate statistics underlying data models; ability to apply new statistical procedures to work and develop models. Demonstrated intermediate ability and knowledge of database principles, data profiling, statistics and data modeling and appication of this knowledge in the full range of typical situations with minimal or no guidance.
