Sr. Database Administrator Job in Andover 01810, Massachusetts US
§ The Senior Database Administrator will start as a member of a technology team responsible for creating, maintaining and monitoring databases in production and test environments. Provides effective solutions to key database aspects including problem diagnostics and resolution, space allocation, data integrity, usage and security. Maintains complete documentation of all production and test databases and performs all aspects of database maintenance. Partners with Application and Business teams to enhance database operations, performance and data integrity.
- Install Oracle software, including Real Application Clusters (RAC) Grid Infrastructure and RDBMS.
- Configure, install and create single instance and RAC databases. Support all aspects of database design, physical implementation of data structures, upgrade and patch databases and perform general maintenance of the database operations.
- Effective problem diagnostics and resolution, working with Oracle Support on problem resolution.
- Build capacity planning reports, monitor databases to improve performance, work with developers in designing optimal SQL.
- Programming in SQL and scripting language.
- Implement, design and test backup and recovery strategies.
- Build Disaster Recovery environment and perform Disaster Recovery testing
- Monitor performance and managing parameters to provide fast query responses to front-end users.
- Refine the logical design so that it can be translated into a specific data model and meet storage requirements.
- Install and test new versions of the database management system (DBMS).
- Maintain data standards.
- Writing database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary (metadata).
- Develop, manage and test back-up and recovery plans.
- Ensure that storage, archiving, back-up and recovery procedures are functioning correctly.
- Work closely with IT project managers, database programmers and web developers.
- Communicate regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security.
- Perform SQL review and walk-thru
- Proficient in Linux shell scripting
Skills Desired
- Academic courses in Data structures, database management, SQL programming and shell scripting.

· Bachelor’s Degree with focus in Computer Science, MIS, or Engineering
· Masters preferred
