Sr. Database Administrator

We are looking for an Oracle Database Administrator to join our Managed Services team. The Managed Services team provides hosting services, product support and technical expertise in managing Tomax retail management software applications. The ideal candidate will possess a solid background in customer support and in-depth database administration.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Providing design assistance, analyzing and managing application and database solutions with technical emphasis in performance monitoring, problem identification and resolution;
- Assisting with tuning and monitoring of the operational efficiency and technical integrity of applications in support of internal and external customers;
- Assisting with installations, patches and upgrades to Tomax Retail.netÓ products;
- Performing data analysis, testing and software configuration of customer environments as necessary;
· Analyzing trends and reporting potential problems or areas of improvement;
· Prioritizing numerous issues of varying severity, and effectively managing the resolution of all issues within accepted service levels; and
- Assisting with the creation and maintenance of departmental documentation and standards.
The successful candidate must possess:
· Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, IT or related area plus 5 years experience in a similar role OR a Masters in Computer Science;
· 5 years of day to day work experience as an expert Oracle DB Administrator;
· 5 years of day to day work experience in backup and recovery concepts;
· 5 years of day to day work experience Oracle cloning environments;
· 5 years of day to day work experience in performing and tuning of SQL and database systems;
· Experience working with external customer production environments;
· Experience with Oracle upgrades;
· Significant hands-on experience with PL/SQL, SQL Plus, stored procedures/packages, import/export, database administration and replication;
· JBOSS, OAS and OUM experience;
· Strong proficiency in running Oracle on Linux or other UNIX platforms;
· Experience with NAS Storage systems is preferred, though not required;
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
· Ability to work with customers through difficult technical problems while maintaining a high level of professionalism;
· Must have 5 years of day to day work experience working with Expert Oracle DB administration, Backup ad Recovery concepts with experience and Cloning Environments, Performance Tuning of SQL and database;
· Must be Oracle certified and at least 5 years of experience in administering Production database; and
- Ability to participate in 24/7 rotating on-call schedule.
