Sr Database Engineer recruitment

Responsibilities
The Senior Database Engineer will work with product managers, project managers, and other development team members and stake holders to analyze database requirements. At a high level the Senior Database Engineer will be responsible for the physical implementation of the data services layers for various projects and products. Role and scope will include but not be limited to

- Design database solutions to satisfy application (business and technical) requirements.
- Research and apply best business practices for the design and administration of databases.
- Create and maintain standard database policies, operating procedures, and overall documentation
- Implement proactive database performance monitoring, fine tuning, and optimize database systems.
- Develop and implement database backup and Disaster Recovery High Avaibility solutions using Clusters,
Replication, Log Shipping etc.
- Identify opportunities and implement solutions to enhance existing database systems.
- Provide expertise concerning Data Warehousing and Data marts.
- Participate in IT and business projects to define database system requirements and recommend technology solutions.
- Research, benchmark, document and introduce new database technologies and features into application life cycle.
- Collaborate with the application developers, business owners, and architects in design and implementations of new technologies solutions.

Qualifications
Requirements
- In-depth expert knowledge and experience with relational DBMS concepts, design, architecture,
and operations
- 10+ years experience with database design and administration.
- Strong experience with Sybase (12.5, 15), Sybase Replication (12.6,15) Oracle (10 11G), DB2 (9.7)
on Linux AIX Operating Systems.
- Experience with clusters, database performance tuning, database monitoring, and database backup/recovery
- Experience in Database Upgrade Migration Strategy Implementation, O/S Patch Upgrade.
- Strong experience in database performance tuning. Design, implement and operate database systems for performance and reliability.
- Experience on Unix Shell Scripting.
- Mentoring Coordinate with the DBA L1 L2 Operations Team to setup guidelines and standards for day to day operations.
- Capable of working independently with minimal supervision, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to quickly adapt to new situations, a strong commitment to a team environment
- Ability to deconflict requests/requirements, and the ability to establish, maintain, and follow documented processes and procedures
- Good technical and problem solving skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Requirements:
- Experience on Monitoring tools like SQL Capture, Fog Light, Ignite.
- Experience on Backup Tools like BMC SQLBT and Avamar.
- Some Experience on Windows and MS-SQL
- Some Experience with LDAP based authentication for Databases preferred.
- Experience in financial service industry is a plus.
