Summary: As a Deal Desk Specialist, the first priority will be responding to moderate volumes of email and phone inquiries providing guidance on quote and contract processes and the proper structure of deals. You will represent Sales internally while collaborating with many cross-functional teams including Finance, Order Management, Legal, and Operations The Specialist possesses exceptional written and verbal communication skills, proven project management skills; and the ability to own and maintain end-to-end projects. The Specialist must possess a basic to intermediate understanding of the suite of products and services and be a constant "role model" of building strong working relationships with our sales teams and cross-functional stakeholders Additional responsibilities will be to identify areas where The Deal Desk can add value or improve our sales processes and operations to support the sales force, enhance its effectiveness and drive improvements throughout the sales cycle. The Specialist will need to combine sound business judgment and superstar project management abilities with razor-sharp problem-solving, communication and analytical skills The Specialist may be required to work a varied schedule to accommodate various time zones and specific quarterly business cycles as needed and until additional Desk staffing is in place Responsiblities: Respond in a timely, courteous, and effective manner to a multitude of email and phone inquiries from a variety of sales professionals with mixed levels of experience. Inquiry response could entail answering questions and explaining contract and fallback terms, negotiation options etc, processing contract amendments, assisting with special approval workflows, coordinating with operations regarding specific/unique operational requirements Influence problem solving at an individual rep level and therein train reps to better help themselves Assess risk, anticipate bottlenecks and balance customer demands versus technical constraints related to any one deal Identify operational inefficiencies and make suggestions for cross-functional process improvements Participate in and in some cases lead projects related to deal desk process, rep contract and deal training, new product support to improve the scalability of the deal desk function and rep efficiency Build strong productive relationships and feedback loops with legal, order management, finance, and operations teams to drive deal efficiency and rep satisfaction with the contracting process Assist in the "packaging" of specific/unique quotes and deals Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: BA/BS degree preferred with a strong academic record Analytical, strategic thinker with the ability to negotiate and resolve complex problems amicably Self-directed learner, takes initiative, follows through, meets commitments Exceptional verbal and written communication skills Detail oriented with the innate ability to manage competing priorities Work well independently with minimal formal training and supervision in a fast paced and sometimes ambiguous environment Minimum 5 years of experience in contract management, sales, and/or a sales support related role at a leading high-growth technology firm (software and SaaS industry experience preferred) Proofpoint, Inc. helps the largest and most successful companies in the world protect and govern their most sensitive data.
