Sr. Development Engineer & Architect at Stage 3 Systems Inc. (Vancouver, BC, Canada) (allows remote)

Job Description

We are looking for a very talented programmer who has experience leading teams and is interested in a software opportunity that is not the run of the mill consumer web site development. We're solving big industrial problems using the very latest methods and technologies. We are taking the most modern web technologies into one of the largest industries in the world. We expect you to be extremely qualified in one or more of the technologies listed and we would especially like to see someone with DevOps experience, having deployed to scale to Amazon or one of the other large public clouds. We know that deployment and operations are as big a part of the solution as the applications themselves and expect you to embrace the challenge that comes with taking responsibility for that part of the job as well.

After we've had a chat with you from seeing your Resume/CV we would want to see code examples, working systems and other things you've built. We will want to learn what you liked about those efforts and  what you'd do differently and why.

This is a full time position which allows us to offer you benefits and stability but we are open to trying things out on contract at first if you wish.

Skills Requirements

You must be able to take ideas and concepts and turn them into deployable systems - that's code and process.

You should be Independent, comfortable asking questions and learning on your own. We especially value people who can admit to making a mistake ... and then never make it again.

If you have an idea about how to do things better, either on the team or as one of our customers,  you should be comfortable suggesting new ways for the company and our customers to do things.

You must believe and can demonstrate experience in building and maintaining high quality code and have an interest in constantly looking at how the company can build better, scalable and sustainable code.

We expect you'll have a BS in CS or related field, and require a solid fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, design,  testing and software operations.

and would be especially excited if you have experience with CloudFormation, OpsWorks or other configuration management and deployment technologies (Ansible, Salt, Chef, Puppet).
