Job Description

 

Under the direct supervision of the Actuator Development Manager, the Senior Development Engineer is responsible for leading the fluid-powered actuator development projects, providing the project leadership for cross-functional development teams. This position will work closely with Marketing department personnel responsible for associated actuator product lines, and will work with various operational functions personnel to support the current product lines. Occasional worldwide travel to other design sites, manufacturing supplier locations, and customers as required.

Responsibilities Include:

·         Lead actuator development projects, according to Emerson NPD processes

·         Drive innovation into design and its implementation

·         Take projects from feasibility to production

·         Convert Marketing specification to complete technical definition

·         Monitor and evaluate test programs which verify/validate product performance

·         Follow Valve Automation technical standards, development processes, and New Product Development Gate process related to actuator technology

·         Ensure design calculation prove compliance with technical standards and good engineering practice

·         Create and execute significant design cost reduction projects

·         Coordinate efforts to obtain necessary product approvals from outside agencies

·         May perform other duties as assigned


Job Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

·         BS / MS Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent

·         Ability to lead a multi-disciplinary product development team

·         Demonstrated command of basic machine design skill

·         Innovator, preferably with patents or patents pending as evidence

·         Working knowledge and experience with mechanical design tools such as FEA, MathCAD, etc

·         Computer literate in MS Office software

·         Knowledge of basic metal fabrication manufacturing processes – machining, welding, casting, and design-for-assembly considerations.

·         Experienced user of 3D CADD software, preferably Solid-Edge

·         Excellent written and verbal English language skills, including presentation skills

·         No restrictions to obtaining a passport and visas for travel to European Union and China
