Location and team
DNV KEMA's Power Generation and Renewables (PGR) group is seeking a Senior Director - Conventional Power Generation with direct knowledge and experience in consulting and marketing of solutions for generation utilities, independent power producers, and public power agencies with a view to provide consulting services to improve efficiency in generation and reduce the carbon emissions as part of an overall fleet asset management strategy.
This position may be based in any DNV KEMA office in the U.S., or from a remote home office proximate to a major airport.
Tasks may include
- Leverage existing network of industry contacts, marketing materials, industry conferences, and DNV KEMA relationships to identify, pursue, and secure high-value market opportunities
- Meet or exceed business development targets reflecting Value-Added Revenues and Profitability
- Continue to grow and expand upon DNV KEMA's position in the Power Generation space within the Americas region
- Execute Power Generation optimization related projects; perform interviews, data collection sessions, review data, analyze by existing and new spreadsheet models, report and present results to executive levels and commissions:
- Review of OM and Capital spending programs
- Review of data and decision support tools like CMMS, GIS, AIS
- Review of processes (e.g., PAS-55)
- Review of infrastructure (aging infrastructure)
- Develop and implement improved future state visions
- Perform program management of asset management improvement programs
- Mentor, develop, and provide guidance and oversight to consulting personnel involved in Power Generation pursuits
What we're asking
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (or equivalent)
- Master's Degree in Power Engineering and/or an MBA is strongly preferred
- 10+ years of relevant experience
- Working knowledge of power generation technologies, system reliability in combination with program spending on infrastructure and back office systems, system automation, AGC, LMP, equipment maintenance, and operations is highly desirable.
- Experience in power generation may include all or a good selection of the following types of generation technologies:
- Renewable Energy: Wind, PV, Concentrated Solar, Biomass, Tidal, Geo-Thermal -Hydro
- Storage: Fuel Cells, Battery, Pump-storage, Ice, CAES, FW
- Gas Turbine - Peaking and Combined Cycle
- Conventional Coal, Clean Coal, Oil, Nuclear
- Documented track record of working with companies to solve or identify complex asset management issues through process improvement and/or strategic planning.
- Desired experience will be in the following areas:
- Integrating, value-based business solutions with technology innovation
- Sales of Power Generation and Asset Optimization related projects; making regular sales calls to Generation Utility clients
- Actively participating in professional organizations such as IEEE, EEI, AWEA
- Presenting case studies, writing and presenting proposals and developing new related service offerings
- Ability to direct multiple project teams, cross-functional groups and/or provide ownership and high-value solutions to the client
- Familiarity with concepts such as risk management, uncertainties, Monte Carlo analysis, project evaluation and prioritization, and value-based spending is highly desirable.
- Must live within close proximity of a major North American airport, and be willing to travel on a regular basis within North America and, on occasion, internationally.
- Excellent written and verbal English skills required; fluency in verbal and written Spanish helpful
- Strong skills in developing and delivering presentations to a variety of technical and non-technical audiences
