Description
Card Customer Management is looking for a Senior Director to lead the Risk Office. The Senior Director will assess and declare the quality of the business-s risk management program in a rising bar environment, drive appropriate risk management actions into business policies, practices, and processes, and ensure appropriate staffing and expertise within the Risk Office. The successful candidate will collaborate broadly with Customer Management leaders, applicable risk stewards, and oversight/regulatory functions to ensure accurate understanding the dynamic risk environment.
Responsibilities will include:
COMPREHENSIVE RISK MANAGEMENT STRATEGY
- Articulate the goals and objectives for the risk profile of Card Customer Management considering the scope of management accountability, risk exposure across Risk categories (e.g. Credit, Compliance, Operational, etc) , the risk appetite of the enterprise, and the dynamics of the risk environment
- Develop goals and objectives for the Risk Office considering the objectives of Customer Management and the current state of the Risk Office
- Direct the execution of the Risk Management strategy across Card Customer Management and within the Risk Office
- Build a risk office with appropriate staffing and qualifications to drive the strategy
- Monitor for and respond quickly to changes to strategic factors that drive changes to the risk profile and associated goals and objectives
ACTIONABLE RISK SELF-ASSESSMENTS AND EXECUTIVE REVIEW
- Lead analysis on major risk exposures and identify actions needed to bring risk within tolerance
- Review results with Leadership of Card Customer Management and Enterprise Risk Management Functions
- Serve as BDM decision-maker for new initiatives and representative for NPMIG
PROPER CONTROLS AND CONTROL EXECUTION
- Ensure adequate controls in place to mitigate applicable risks to Customer Management programs
- Ensure adequate test procedures are in place to monitor controls on a regular basis
- Ensure deficiencies identified are remediated by appropriate owners in a timely, comprehensive, and compliant manner
RELIABLE RISK MONITORING AND DATA
- Ensure internal processes are in place to provide assurance to CCM leaders regarding information reliability prior to providing external certifications
- Assess the reliability of information reported externally (GRC, Audits, Exams, etc.)
- Ensure appropriate actions are taken to drive comprehensive and accurate risk reporting
INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION STRATEGY
- Interface with Senior leaders in CCM, Enterprise Risk Management and Oversight/Regulatory functions
- Develop communication channels to ensure appropriate awareness and understanding of risk management objectives at all levels of Customer Management business
RISK MANAGEMENT CULTURE
- Establish accountability structures (expectations and reporting) to drive risk management culture into management practices; ensure appropriate ownership for risk management with business leaders
- Leverage an information and communication strategy to support an appropriate risk management culture in Card Customer Management
- Ensure risk information is framed in a way to make it relevant and actionable to Card Customer Management leaders

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree
- 8+ years financial industry experience
- At least 5 years in a role with significant Risk/Compliance management accountability
- At least 5 years experience in roles requiring complex analytical, problem-solving, and executive reporting
- At least 5 years experience in People management
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with regulators and external parties
- Experience Capital One-s Governance, Risk, and Control Framework
- Policy and Procedure Development experience
