Senior Electrical Engineer:
Objective:
This position is responsible for the electrical design of instrumentation circuits for medical devices. The major design responsibility of this position is in digital, micro-processor and related peripheral devices. Direct design contribution, schematic capture, collaboration with PCB design personnel, documentation, analysis, troubleshooting and integration of the resultant designs are essential functions of this position.
Essential Functions:
- Design medical instrumentation electronics
- Prepare Requirements, Validation, WCA and other documents
- Develop detailed electrical designs
- Participate in cross-functional design team meetings
- Provide mentorship for junior engineers
- Frequent informative and consultative contact with other engineers, managers and director-level personnel with Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Cross-functional team members.
- Will interact with Customers, Vendors and Consulting Firms.
- This position is responsible for detailed electrical design, and technical acumen
- Recommends and implements design and development practices
Knowledge/Educational Requirements
- BS in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years experience in a development environment which adheres to design controls.
- Education that includes digital design, embedded software architecture and implementation of industry standard interfaces such as RS232, CAN and Ethernet.
- Knowledge of IEC standards preferred particularly those related to medical devices such as IEC 60601-1.
Skills and Abilities
- Technical skills include design using microcontrollers and DSPs.
- Digital analysis and use of simulation
- Design troubleshooting and design verification using lab equipment
- Strong documentation skills required
- Ability to work effectively on a product development team
- Focused, task oriented and results driven
- Effective communicator on status and technical issues
Physical Demands/Work Environment
This position involves sitting at a desk or lab bench, walking and standing. Work is performed in an office, conference room, engineering lab and at an outside test lab. Work in the office environment involves use of a personal computer. The engineering lab environment includes a bench area, assembly area (where ESD precautions apply), EMC labs that involve testing with high voltage, RF fields and an environmental test area with temperature/humidity chambers.
This is a “Defined Term” assignment that will last approximately 24 months or until project is complete. Defined Term employees are eligible for most of MAQUET benefits (including health insurance and vacation time) while on assignment!
