This senior position affords a unique opportunity to supervise the design and installation of custom electrical and control systems in modular process units sold to the organization's global customer base.Position Responsibilities:Communication skills that consist of:
•Working with project managers on required changes to budget, schedule or quality level on assigned project work.
•Meeting budgeted hours, planned schedule and agreed-upon level of quality on assigned project work.•Interface with customer to determine project electrical requirements
•Interface with designer and fabricator to check that project electrical requirements are incorporated.•Coordinate with the fabricator throughout the fabrication phase of the project on electrical issues.
•Coach and mentor equipment engineers regarding their electrical deliverables (electric motors, etc).
•Developing work processes and tools that improve UOP's products and efficiency.
 
Technical skills that consist of:
•Independently prepare, review or approve the following project electrical design documents for the designer, fabricator and installer
•single-line diagram and electrical wiring schematics for control of motors, electric heaters, panel boards and control panels•electrical hazardous area classification drawings• power wiring, instrument wiring, grounding, lighting and receptacle layout design. •cable schedules for power wiring and instrument cable•electrical design calculations for voltage drop, short circuit current, lighting, heat tracing, etc.•equipment-sizing calculations for switchgear, motor control equipment, cable, etc.
•Prepare bid evaluations of equipment from an electrical perspective and participate in the supplier selection process.•Inspect electrical equipment and fabrication for conformance with project requirements and applicable codes.•Inspect electrical site construction for conformance with applicable codes and project requirements.

•Identify inconsistencies and problems that may be present on PIDs (process instrumentation diagram) during the design phase and record changes on PIDs in preparation for customer checks and official release.•Analyze and recommend solutions to technical problems in the electrical field.

Basic Requirements: •BS degree in Electrical Engineering is required. •Ten (10) years experience is required with electrical distribution systems and the design and installation of electrical equipment in petroleum refineries or petrochemical plants.
 
Additional Qualifications:•Independently prepare project electrical design documents for the designer, fabricator and installer incorporating applicable code and customer requirements •Independently select and prepare equipment requisitions for NEC( National Electric Code) and IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) type hazardous area electrical equipment with attention to certifications. •Independently inspect electrical site construction for conformance with applicable codes and project requirements. •Develop and interpret PIDs with a project team. •Field experience in petroleum refineries is preferred. •Leadership skills in making key engineering decisions for large and complex projects with minimal technical review, •Experience with reviewing the work of other engineers, checking for technical accuracy and compliance with established guidelines and procedures. •Excellent oral and written communications skills for working effectively with team members. •Ability to work in a collaborative team environment for major objectives or expected results. •Ability to travel up to 10% annually to both domestic and international locations
