Sr. Electronic Hardware RD Engineer

Job Description:
Position: Sr. Electronic Hardware RD Engineer (Computer Science Emphasis)

About this position: This is a defined term position for 1.5 years.

General Summary:

Analyzes software, process, material or equipment specifications and performance requirements for projects of high complexity. Under broad supervision /guidance and in conformance with BSC’s and San Jose’s Quality System, compiles and analyzes operational, test, and research data to establish performance standards for newly designed or modified products/processes. Participates in and successfully contributes to project team deliverables, typically including the following activities: product design and development, component test, preparation of specifications, develop/validate test methods, support/direct complaint investigations, support marketing, report preparation, and other assigned activities. Troubleshoots new and existing product/process problems as related to design or components.Demonstrates Leadership and self-directed problem solving.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

· Understand Electrophysiology capital equipment products intimately
· Improves product performance by implementing hardware and firmware design changes when required
·Investigates root cause analysis on complaints
·Conducts recertification for capital equipment
·Discloses patentable new product ideas
·Assesses the feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering evaluation tests, products, or equipment when necessary data are insufficient or confirmation by testing is not advisable
·Has solid experience in analog/digital design and C/Assembly Programming.
·Fully support the Quality Policy by building quality into all aspects of the incumbent's work and by maintaining compliance to all quality requirements. Maintains compliance to assigned training requirements
·Work in a team, managing others or individual setting
·Interfaces with vendors and other outside specialists to solve problems requiring external assistance
·Maintains compliance to assigned training requirements
·Other duties as assigned

Job Experience:
Position Qualifications:

BS in Engineering or equivalent; 5+ years of embedded system and test program engineering experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
required to perform at this level.

Technical skills:

· Have strong CS/EE skills (Programming, Circuit theory, KVL, KCL, Integration, Linear Algebra, Calculus, SPICE)
· Able to read and create software (Keil C and Assembler for DS80C390, Microchip for PIC, Verilog for FPGA, CVI and Labview)
· Able to create solid models (SolidWorks)
· Able to read and create test programs (GPIB and DAQ)
· Knowledge of wireless communications
· Able to debug and solder PCAs
· Knowledge of analyzers, oscilloscopes, power supplies, generators, etc.
· Able to create protocols/reports and other documentation
· Participate in CAPAs
· Have a back ground in RF generator technology and some motor control
· Must have at least 2yrs medical device experience and with IEC60601-1 standards
· Strong communication skills (Excellent written and verbal English)
· Strong time and data management skills (Hierarchical documentation and design)
· Great track record for completing projects on time
· Great track record of continuous learning
· Knowledge of JTAG, I2C, other communication buses and test fixture design
· Knowledge of Phy circuit design
