Job Description: The Time Warner Cable corporate office currently seeks a Senior Datacenter Engineer for our Advanced Technology Group in the Sustaining Engineering Department. Below please find a brief description of the essential duties and responsibilities required to function successfully in this position. Essential Job Functions: Work together with Engineers from the field to troubleshoot and resolve persistent and escalated issues. Serve as an escalation point for Tier III operational support. Issue Tech Bulletins and Field Service Alerts to notify field engineers of software and hardware bugs as well as associated impact, workaround, and fixes. Responsible for implementation planning and capacity management. Spearhead efforts for deployment and field trials of new types of technologies. Provide proactive problem management through root cause analysis for high impact and systemic issues. Hold vendors accountable to resolve systemic issues such as bugs and abnormally high failure rates. Establish operational best practices and standard operating procedures for deployment, support, break-fix, and management (monitoring, inventory, sparing, etc.). Interact with cross functional teams from Network Architecture, Network Engineering and Quality Assurance to review product requirements, functional specifications, and detailed designs. Job Requirements: Successful candidate will have at least 7 years of network engineering experience, preferably with a cable Multiple Service Operator (MSO) or other service provider. This is a hybrid IP network and security position where the successful candidate will develop detailed designs and standards that will result in the implementation of a wide range of IP network and security technologies in predominantly data center environments. Experience with Cisco PIX, FWSM, and Juniper Netscreen platforms desired. Thorough understanding of data center switch environment needed (Brocade experience a plus). Understanding of BGP and OSPF is required. Deep understanding of network management (SNMP, polling, security, etc.) needed. Technical writing skills related to installation and operations guides wanted. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Quality of Service (QoS), Multicast, Voice over IP (VoIP) and Multi-protocol Label Switching (MPLS) is desired at the CCNP level or equivalent. Optical knowledge (DWDM and SONET) is a plus especially as it relates to Infinera and Cisco. Cable plant knowledge (CMTS and RF technologies) is a plus as related to Cisco, Arris, and Motorola. Opsware (HP NA) and Cisco Secure experience a plus. Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university; or equivalent training, education and experience.
