Sr Engineer, Software Applications (ETL Admin / Developer)

Oversees development and administration of network management ETL solutions to monitor and maintain the T-Mobile network. These systems will be utilized to provide proactive management and reporting for the T-Mobile network. Create formal networks with other departments, vendors, and partners to provide network management solutions as required. Determines the appropriate programming languages and technologies, writes complex code, completes programming, performs complex testing and debugging of ETL solutions.. Primary responsibilities also include: translating business requirements into high and low level designs, analyzing business requirements and suggesting best implementation strategies, developing and testing performance ETL code to realize design using best practice methods, and unit testing work. Responsible for managing collaboration with system engineers to define system requirements and necessary modifications.

Essential Functions

* Utilizes programming skills to develop (ETL code) and unit-test new system functionality per technical specifications, with deliverables to include code builds and documented unit test results.

* Acts as a subject matter expert for specific applications. Leads vendor calls and manages software defects for those applications. Participates in enhancement requests.

* Leads and manages reviews (walkthroughs) of technical specifications and program code with other members of the technical team, communicating design, requirements, feature set, functionality and limitations of systems/applications to team.

* Translates complex business and functional requirements into documented ETL technical and architectural specifications.

* Responsible for managing and building production deployment packages and implementation plans for scheduled systems enhancements. Applies patches, updates and upgrades for ETL servers as required.

* Create and manage high performance and highly scalable ETL design architecture

* Design, implement, and develop ETL processes against high-volume and complex data sources

* Manage ETL environments suggesting improvements for stability performance tuning

* Create data stores, jobs, work flows, data flows and custom functions

* Reverse engineer existing jobs/work flows, and provide performance tuning and troubleshooting

* Respond quickly to issues which emerge in Production systems and during User Acceptance testing

Minimum Required* Advanced knowledge in the support and development of network management software* Advanced UNIX and Windows OS skills* Superior understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP, FTP, SNMP, Ethernet, Wireless LAN, and other WAN/LAN Protocols* Strong understanding of using XML files for ETL development.* Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Products* 5-8+ years Data Warehouse ETL Development and Administration experience* 5-8+ years Professional experience using 3 or more development languages or tools such as SQL,* 5+ years Network Management development experience in a large scale Operations environment* 5+ years Designing and developing ETL solutions on Oracle and SQL Server source and target database systems.* 5-8+ years Scripting experience required - Unix Shell, Perl etc.*
Desired5+ years of experience managing installations, upgrade, tuning and maintenance of using Informatica, Datastage or Business Objects Data Services 3.2* Must have prior experience in working with real time data warehousing, Change Tracking and Change Data Capture.* Must have experience working with complex large scale source systems (relational and flat files)* Must have strong knowledge of Business Objects Data Integrator transformations* Real-time Data Warehousing experience is highly preferred
Education
Minimum Required* Bachelors Degree. Technical Discipline* In lieu of a degree experience within the telecom industry may be considered
