Sr. Equipment Engineer - Medical Devices
Job Description:
The Senior Equipment Engineer will support Electrophysiology Device sustaining and new product development engineering. . Engineering specialty is the design and development of RD, pilot and production capital equipment (jigs, fixtures, tooling and automated machines) per ISO 9000 standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Independently performs work which involves conventional types of plans, investigations, surveys, structures, or equipment with relatively few complex features for which there are precedents. Leads project teams coordinating the efforts of engineers, technicians and other professionals of various disciplines/departments to design, develop, and continuously improve medical device products. Plans, schedules, conducts or coordinates detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope.
Performs work which involves conventional engineering practice but may include a variety of complex features such a conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of standard materials, and difficult coordination requirement. Performs engineering work typically including one of the following: capital equipment design and development (including jigs, fixtures, tooling and automated machines), test of materials, preparation of specifications (to include layout, assembly and detail drawings, and electrical /pneumatic schematics), process study, report preparation, research and purchase of commercial components, validation of all equipment, and other activities of wide scope requiring broad knowledge of precedents in equipment design and development and good knowledge of principles and practices of related specialties.
Interfaces with vendors and other outside specialists. Interfaces with various departments necessary for design, assembly, and implementation of equipment. Performs responsibilities required by the Quality System and other duties as assigned or requested.
Job Experience:
Requirements:
BS in related discipline, 5-8 years directly related experience, MS +2-4 years directly related experience. Experience in machine design and automation, preferably in medical device or semiconductor industry. Technical drafting experience in CAD. Solid modeling experience using Solidworks preferred. Solid knowledge in automation: use of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's), motion control, process control, and sensors.
Experience working with contract manufacturing and successful technology integration desired. Individual will have function of either project leader or team member as required by equipment related to new product development, pilot or production support projects (VIP, CIP). Proven Cost reduction and yield improvement activities supporting New Product development or Manufacturing.
Or, the equivalent combination of education and experience required to perform at this level.
