AECOM Energy is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Estimator/Scheduler to fill a new position within the East region team to play a significant role in our expanding EPC business.
The selected individual will have project life cycle involvement; supporting initial proposal development and bidding with cost estimates and schedule, project implementation and finally contract closeout.
Responsibilities:
- Review RFP documents and attend job pre-bid meetings to determine identify the scope of work, requirements for schedule and estimates to the project development team
- Preparation of various levels of EPC cost estimates (often with incomplete information), ie: Order of Magnitude, Conceptual, Parametric, Definitive incorporating contingencies appropriate for the type of estimate and project risk profile for a wide variety of combined heat and power, renewable energy/fuels, and energy conservation projects. Project value range $1M - $50M
- For all estimates and schedules ensure proper documentation of scope, assumptions, clarifications and pricing, and maintain copies of working documents and data
- Participate in the preparation and presentation of proposals to public and private clients
- Review of designs and specifications during project development and design for cost effectiveness and suggest VE alternatives where applicable
- Develop linked resource-loaded schedules from proposal documents, contract documents and estimate sheets. Schedules shall implement required detail WBS, Milestones, etc.
- Assists Project Team in preparing requests to Owner, or from subcontractors, for Changes in cost and time
- Maintain the established project cost/schedule program and present schedule/cost status reports
- Such reports shall provide analysis of progress and costs to indicate key project issues to management
Qualifications:
- A 4-year degree in Engineering or Construction Management (or related field) is desired
- 15+ years of related experience, including field construction and at least 5 years in a conceptual cost estimating environment for CHP, renewable fuels/energy and ESCO type EPC projects
- Thorough knowledge and use of estimating databases, software,, and other sources of cost information and application to estimates for Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Civil and Structural
- Demonstrable proficiency with Microsoft Offices suite of tools, Microsoft Project as well as Primavera P3, (P6 preferred) in preparing all levels of schedules
- Ability to read and understand PID’s and Single Line Diagrams. Familiar with specifications for equipment and systems typically found in CHP and Central Utility projects
- Certification in professional field such as, Project Management Institute (PMI), Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering (AACE), Professional Estimators, Professional Construction Manager is desirable
- Effective communication skills, verbal and written, to present work performed internally and externally
