SR FIELD ENGINEER I
Job Description: Supports Norwegian Army Surface to Air Missile Systems Operation (NASAMS-11) equipment. The successful candidate will provide guidance and training to customer personnel in establishing operation, maintenance, and inspection procedures and techniques. Analyzes equipment failures to determine cause and recommends corrective action. Advises and assists in effecting design changes to improve equipment efficiency and/or reduce cost of operation. Devises and implements preventive maintenance programs and keeps performance and maintenance records on equipment and participates in site installation and planning. This position may require occasional travel within the United States and overseas from a primary work location of the Washington, D.C area. Preference given to local area candidates. Required Skills: Able to maintain NASAMS II Missile System Launcher, Fire Distribution Center including support for heavy transport vehicles, missile launcher system and command reporting systems. Qualified candidate will be responsible for the AIM120 missile handling, loading, unloading, and reloading as required by the program mission objectives. Must be able to maintain operational readiness of 1 Kongsberg (KDA) Fire Distribution Center, 4 Launchers, and perform missile handling. The candidate should have demonstrated knowledge of computer systems and dedicated weapons computer systems. Communications skill, training and verbal communications skills, documentation support and revision skills are needed. This position requires direct contact with the customer and the candidate must work in small groups with team lead supervision under direction from management. Desired Skills: Experience operating and maintaining NASAMS-II Missile Systems or equivalent Missile System is desired. The successful candidate should have basic operating level knowledge of Fire Distribution Center (FDC)/Tactical Operation Center (TOC) equipment and Missile Launchers. This candidate would be trained in tower climbing certification (sensors are mounted on towers). Experienced and knowledge in the reloading of launchers. Experience in computer maintenance and skills in UNIX and Windows Operating Systems is desired. Desired training would include CCNA certification, training, proficient in the use of Government Furnished Communications Equipment (GFE) and systems Networking Capabilities. Background in hands on repairing of RF cables and connectors and familiarity with the use of radio encryption devices is desired. Required Education (including Major): Related Bachelor's degree in engineering related field required. In lieu of degree, 12 or more years of directly related experience may be substituted for education.
