Sr. Fin Ops Analyst
JOB SUMMARY:
A senior financial analyst supports the Strategic Business Unit (SBU) through monthly and quarterly variance and profitability analyses, as well as adhoc analyses aimed at determining risks and opportunities to the SBU’s PL. Includes financial reconciliations and settlements related to client/account financial operations. In addition, the senior financial analyst plays an integral part of the SBU’s annual planning and forecasting process.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develops, reviews, and performs in depth analysis and reporting on Health Plan Strategic Business Unit (SBU) and Contract performance results including, but not limited to, membership, revenue, medical costs, administrative costs and key business metrics which are to be presented to all levels of management. There is specific emphasis on monthly actual versus plan analyses in terms of revenue and medical costs. Collaborates with SBU Finance Director and VP on developing strategies and solutions for business operations and profitability improvement.
- Develops, prepares, and maintains a defined set of critical business issues and initiatives for the Health Plan Strategic Business Unit (SBU) and Contracts. Ownership of coordinating resources towards the resolution of these issues and initiatives along with partnering with various business partners throughout the organization is paramount.
- Develops and prepares Health Plan Strategic Business Unit (SBU) and associated Contracts annual business plans and forecasts which are to be presented to all levels of management.
Education: BA/BS
Field(s) of study: Finance, Accounting, and/or Healthcare Administration
Experience: 5-8yrs.
Industry: Health Care Financial Analyst
Job Specific: Financial Analysis (Profitability Analysis, Actual versus Plan, Financial Operations); Will accept 3-5 years experience provided the applicant has public accounting or healthcare finance experience
Other: Knowledge of health care finance, excellent communication and presentation skills,
Computer Skills: Microsoft (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Hyperion (Essbase, Planning) experience required. Knowledge of Microsoft Access is a plus.
