JOB PURPOSE

Leads and participates on internal audits of various controls, processes, and regulatory/SOX compliance across the corporation.  Internal Audit projects typically last 1-3 weeks and may be conducted independently or with team members.  This position requires 20 - 30% domestic and international travel throughout the year.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

-Develops an understanding of the various Pentair businesses, including operating processes, business processes, policies and procedures, and self-governance practices.

-Applies IIA audit standards, processes and techniques to lead and execute thorough and efficient internal audits.  Evaluates internal control design and operational effectiveness.

-Creates project strategies, timelines, templates, and deliverables for new projects.

-Participates in risk assessment activities and provides input on the internal audit plan.

-Performs effective detailed reviews of other internal auditors’ work to promote consistent documentation standards and compliance with the audit strategy.

-Leads opening and closing meetings with business management.  Documents relevant facts, recommendations and evidence to support audit testing and conclusions in a way that other reviewers can understand the auditor’s logic and methods.  Prepares audit reports and determines all required sign-offs have been obtained prior to report release.

-Conducts interactive and professional interviews with internal clients.  Demonstrates effective listening skills. Establishes strong customer relationships.

-Writes audit reports using correct business English and follows the protocols established by the department.

"Sells" (Internally explains IA capabilities) special project work through interaction in the various businesses.

-Provides effective coaching and counsel to auditees and other auditors and Pentair employees to help them become more proficient in reducing risk and increasing compliance in their respective businesses.

-Engages in professional development activities, including completion of professional certification as appropriate.

-Takes responsibility for assigned tasks and projects; manages the time budget and communicates progress effectively.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

Obtains at least 40 hours of Continuing Professional Education every year.

Required Skills:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

-Bachelor's degree (B.A., B.S.) or equivalent, MBA or advanced degree preferred.

-At least 3-5 years of experience in an audit and risk consulting capacity.  Experience can be in any industry segment, though manufacturing and/or public accounting experience preferred.

-Sarbanes-Oxley control testing experience preferred.

-Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, HFM

-Exposure to SAP, JD Edwards, TeamMate and ACL software/systems is preferred

-Second language skills preferred (especially Mandarin, German, French, or Spanish).

-Solid understanding of process and controls (i.e., order entry, accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory, cycle counting, pricing, MRP, etc.) in a manufacturing environment

-Professional certification such as CPA, CMA, or CIA preferred

-Expert-level understanding and indentification of risks and controls

-Ability and willingness to travel both domestically and internationally for up to 30% of the year
