Description
The operations strategy department is responsible for identification and implementation of operating efficiencies across multiple business lines. Operations strategy is involved in a diverse range of large scale projects including developing corporate utilities, workflow management practices, and procurement efficiencies. More broadly operations strategy is tasked with facilitating knowledge-sharing and best-in-class production practices across the company. This particular position is responsible for managing a project within one or many of the lines of business to produce desired results. This person manages all tasks needed for the successful completion of a project. This includes, project scoping, analysis, and implementation using many different tools including but not limited to Six Sigma. The incumbent supervises activities for large initiatives. S/He is responsible for quality assurance, and assists in making decisions on personnel actions. Incumbent must possess detailed operational knowledge and must be able to model and analyze improvement opportunities. S/He will be required to quantify operating improvement opportunities and consensus for ideas in a manner that bring diverse opinions together. S/He may provide input to policy level direction regarding standards, budgets, and constraints. Must be able to display knowledge of Bank of New York Mellon's general business environment; and understand how to accomplish tasks according to set timelines. The position will require up to 30% travel.
Qualifications
Industrial Engineering degree preferred or BA/BS and/or operational business experience of eight years plus. An MBA is preferred. Strong statistical and analytical skills. Proven strong leadership skills. Strong Problem solving skills. Ability to present to all levels of management. Ability to effectively execute under tight timeframes. Strong oral and written communication skills. Takes initiative and is results oriented. Demonstrated ability to communicate and influence constituents. Six Sigma training or certification preferred.
