Volt Technical Resources has a long-term position available in New York City for a Sr. Interaction Designer to work as part of a team whose focus is upon collaborative, cutting-edge and intelligent design methods.
Position Overview:
Our Client is seeking to hire a Sr. Interaction Designer for their Web and Mobile Interactive Media group. Taking direction from the Creative Director and working alongside Sr. UI Design staff, the Sr. Interaction Designer helps to:
- Define and carry out the established project design(s).
- Contributes to and supports the creative and iterative process.
In addition, the Sr. Interaction Designer will be an integral part in developing, defining and growing the User Experience team. The Sr. Designer should be an enthusiastic and motivated self-starter who is eager to help define his or her own role and contribution.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Web Designer:
- Help to develop, manage and improve the Interaction Design process for cross-platform products.
- Plan and conduct User Requirements Gathering and Analysis, Competitive Research, Conceptual Modeling and Usability Testing.
- Design and specify User Interfaces and Information Architecture, using participatory and Iterative Design techniques, including Stakeholder Interviews, Usability Testing and other forms of Requirements Discovery.
- Produce User Requirements Specifications, Personas, Storyboards, Scenarios, Prototypes, and Interaction Design Specifications.
- Effectively communicate research findings, conceptual ideas and detailed design rationale, both verbally and visually.
- Participate as a Contributor to an interdisciplinary team that includes Visual Designers, Project Managers, Product Strategists, Producers, Copywriters, Engineers and Developers.
- Contribute to the definition scope and phasing of project timelines.
This is an estimated one-year PLUS contingent / temporary position, through Volt Technical Resources, based in New York City. We are among the largest staffing companies in the US for contingent/temporary and direct hire placements, and support most of the top-rated companies on the East Coast.
Requirements:
Required Skills for this Sr. Interaction Designer position include the following:
- BS/BA in Design, HCI, and/or related degree preferred
- Strong knowledge of Interaction Design processes and methodology, particularly as applied to cross-platform products
- An understanding of the following software required:
- Mac OSX
- Visio
- Photoshop
- Illustrator
- Adobe Acrobat/Distiller
- InDesign
- Flash and/or other rapid prototyping skills
- Knowledge of craft excellence is within their craft
- Ability to identify and evangelize Best Practices
- Understanding of customer needs, motivations and behaviors and translate them into actionable deliverables
- Must be detail-oriented with highly developed organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Strong self-management skills and the ability to work as a contributing member of a multi-disciplinary team
- Ability to merge a User-centered perspective along with an understanding of the value of Design and Brand within a Business context
- A belief in the importance of prototyping, with an ability to lead and deliver prototypes at various levels of fidelity
- Strong written, verbal and presentation skills
- Must be constructive, charismatic, passionate and committed to informed problem-solving, flexibility, scalability and innovation
