Responsibilities
Reporting to the IS Operations Manager, Global Network Services the Senior IP Telephony Engineer position is responsible for the technical delivery of IPTel and VOIP services on a global basis.
The senior IP Telephony Engineer must have detailed knowledge of Cisco IPT and VOIP hardware. The engineer must have a solid background in networking and understand the impact of IPT implementations on LAN and WAN resources.
They must have a very logical approach to problem solving and be able to take ownership of issues and follow them through to completion. The role is split equally between operational management of systems and project based implementations.
• Responsible for the overall delivery of IPT and VOIP services globally
• Responsible for the development and documentation of IPT and VOIP standards to meet global challenges
• Responsible for ensuring continuity of implementations across the global install base, working with engineers with shared responsibilities to deliver the voice landscape
• Working with other disciplines to deliver a comprehensive Unified Communications implementation approach that focuses on business requirements
• Provide leadership within the team, leading by example to both support the current infrastructure and promote change within the environment
Key Skills
• Detailed expert knowledge of Cisco IPT and VOIP hardware and configurations
• Solid background in networking with an understanding of the impact of IPT on LAN / WAN / Wireless resources as well as the LAN / WAN / Wireless requirements for high availability
• Detailed knowledge of QOS and COS to improve the quality of voice services across the network
• Knowledge of supporting technologies to deliver and their integrations points with the core underlying Voice technology
Job Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field, or equivalent work experience
• 5 - 10 years of IS and business/industry work experience
• CCNP Voice Certification
• 3 - 5 years of experience with IPT and VOIP technology with at least 3 years working with Cisco IPT technology
• Strategic thinker with the ability to transform strategy into deliverable projects
• Strong written and verbal English language skills
• Strong inter-personal, analytical thinking, presentation and communication skills essential
• Ability to work in a global team environment
