Sr IT Business Analyst
This is an IT role!!!! Must being IT within a retail chain.
This Sr. IT Business Analyst - Retail (Back Office/InStore) role will function as a liaison between the business community and the technical community. Position will be responsible for gathering, clarifying, translating and defining business requirements into specific user requirement documents, to drive needed functional or IT system changes that involve Back Office/InStore operations such as POS (Point Of Sale) systems, Inventory Systems, etc.
Position will also research and analyze solutions to ensure the business needs are met and partners with the business community to identify business processes improvement opportunities using Information Technology. The Sr. IT Business Analyst is an active participant in all phases of a project lifecycle and will be required to work closely with a variety of stakeholders to ensure that all business requirements are understood, documented and met and will regularly provide guidance to and assist in mentoring less experienced Business Analysts.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
IT Planning Analysis:
• Independently partners with the business to assess and understand business requests
• Assists business owners to identify, clarify, define and document the objective and benefits of any project or enhancement request
• Collaborates with business owners to determine ROI on project/enhancement requests
• Gathers, analyzes, translates, and documents business/user requirements
• Obtains business sign-off on user requirements
• Prepares and delivers user requirements for project development teams
• Gathers and documents current business processes
IT Solution Design:
• Proactively investigates options to solve business problems and meet the business needs
• Consults the business and advises on application functionality and usability to meet business requirements
• Documents and recommends functional solutions where applicable
• Documents and recommends business process change
• Participates in design review sessions where required
IT Testing User Acceptance:
• Prepares testing strategies, test plans, and test cases
• Takes lead role where needed in the user acceptance phase of projects
• Compiles testing results
• Compiles and tracks issues
• Communicates defects discovered in UAT to the project team
• Provides general support for the business during user acceptance testing
General Responsibilities:
• Liaison between the business community and the IT department
• Initiates and facilitates communications between the technology teams and the business
• Ensures adherence to department operation standards; Follows the prescribed SDLC process and operational framework
• Maintains effective communication with management and project teams
• Regularly provides guidance to and assists in mentoring less experienced Business Analysts.
IT Solution Deployment:
• Leads change management activities and delivery business solutions
• Develops training materials where required
• Independently provides functional support for the business during implementation and post-implementation phases of a project
Job Requirements:
- MUST HAVE: Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related technical Information Solutions discipline.
- MUST HAVE: 5 years of IT Systems experience within a large Retail Chain of stores.
- MUST HAVE: 3 or more years of experience performing analysis of Retail IT Systems, gathering and defining business requirements, creating user requirement documents, and driving the needed functional or IT system changes.
- MUST HAVE: Experience supporting Back Office/InStore Operations systems such as POS (Point Of Sale) systems, Inventory Systems, etc. (not just financials at the corporate level). Strong preference for experience with IBM POS Systems.
- MUST HAVE: Strong understanding of Test strategies, Test Planning, Test Execution, and monitoring within a Retail Systems back office environment.
- MUST HAVE: Experience with IT process modeling and understanding of Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) including issue, risk and scope management.
