Sr. Manager, Corporate Development

Alcoa's Corporate Development Team is dedicated to supporting the company's global vision, profitability and growth objectives through the leadership, management and execution of the acquisition, diverstiture and joint venture processes as well as supporting strategy development. The team members work with senior management and business leaders across the company to execute deals globally. This role can be located in New York City or Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Reporting directly to the Vice President and Managing Director of the Corporate Development Group, the Senior Manager will assemble and lead deal teams (lead teams responsible for managing mergers and acquisitions, strategic alliances and joint ventures including identification, screening, evaluation, deal structuring and negotiation, due diligence, closing, and integration of transactions. The incumbent will also lead functional teams made up of executives in the tax, accounting, treasury, legal, insurance, environmental health safety, and transition services departments on various global merger and acquisition projects. Additional responsibilities will also include negotiating large, complex transactions and supervising valuation and business plan development Additional Key Responsibilities * Managing ongoing activities, including screening incoming opportunities, developing relationships with external partners and potential partners, managing the deals pipeline, researching opportunities and selecting the most appropriate to be developed, creating and implementing realistic business plans, working with legal counsel to develop contracts, coordinating and managing multiple projects simultaneously. * Leading project valuation and due diligence in cooperation with operational groups, as well as working in concert with the executive management team members in negotiations, deal structuring, financing and governance design. * Providing a continuous flow of analysis and assessment with regard to mergers and acquisitions, industry and competitive activities within the marketplace. * Engaging frequently with members of the company s senior leadership team with regard to key strategic initiatives and future opportunities for business growth. Skills * Influential communication and negotiation skills * Strong presentation skills as this role will have extensive interaction with VP of Corporate Development, Alcoa Senior Management including BU Presidents and Group Presidents * Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills * Expert level analytical skills * Critical thinking, ability to consider strategic alternatives and make recommendations with sound judgement and detailed understanding of the facts Basic Qualifications * Bachelors Degree * 10+ years professional experience working in Mergers and Acquisitions or extensive experience in another discipline such as Operations, Finance, Procurement or Legal with financial analysis and performing negotiation transactions Preferred Qualifications * MBA or other advanced degree * Valuation experience and comprehensive understanding of valuation methodologies * Multilingual skills are desired * Expertise in aerospace, energy and construction markets is desired * Global experience has a global mindset to support negotiation skills across multi-cultural borders to effectively influence outcomes on deals * The ideal candidate will have had employment in both a professional services firm, such as an investmant bank or other transactions support firm, and a corporate environment
