Department Description: CPA firms with high levels of industry experience continually conduct audit examinations of WMG labels on behalf of artists, publishers and unions. The WMG audit department ensures that during this examination process, WMG’s interests are maintained, and that the result of this process is properly recorded for financial reporting purposes.
High Level Job Description: To coordinate with business affairs, label finance, artist representatives and external auditors on all aspects of the audit process, including:
- Notifications;
- Report review and response;
- Settlement negotiations;
- Financial reporting implications.
Detailed Job Description/ Responsibilities:
- Obtain documentation in response to auditor fieldwork inquiries;
- Manage onsite visits and respond to corresponding follow-up requests;
- Advise Audit Department Management of auditor’s fieldwork findings.
- Research validity of audit claims submitted.
- Respond to Label Management inquires concerning audits.
- Write formal written responses to audit claims submitted.
- Assist Senior Audit Department personnel within Audit Settlement process.
Required Competencies/Skills:
- Must be computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
Special Requirements/Preferences:
- Must be detailed oriented and have the ability to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
- Must have 4-5 years of royalty accounting and/or contract compliance audit experience in the Music industry or other entertainment industries.
Education Required/Preferred:
- Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Majors preferred.
