Manufacturing Facility. Honeywell Greer is an original equipment manufacturer
(OEM) of new hot section turbine-engine components which maintains the highest
number of Special Processes within any one Aerospace site. It is fast growing
and recognized as the value proposition for this site and its future
operations.The Product Engineer is the ISC identified technical lead with responsibility for the product and process. Provides guidance and technical expertise for all areas and products of responsibility. The Product Engineer is responsible for product integrity manufacturing output and continuous improvements working with factory operations, demand planning, engineering, and sourcing. This role will drive product improvement initiatives and report to the Product Engineering Manager/Supervisor. Key Activities/Elements:
- Lead and coordinate activities between Product Engineering, Operations AME, and Quality and Manufacturing Assurance team. Identify and analyze product opportunities / issues. Plan, deploy, monitor and control improvement including Supplier initiatives to drive product and process improvements. Support Customer communication to ensure and improve Product Quality and delivery.
- Able to provide work direction and mentoring to other Engineers and Product Engineering Technicians.
- Proactively integrate functional interaction such as supplier quality assurance, transitions, material productivity, cost reductions. Support AME and NPI Engineers. Utilizes Six Sigma Plus, Design for Manufacturing (DFM) tools to drive product and process improvement. Ensure technical compliance with HSE, OSHA regulations and requirements.
- Lead improvement of unit cost management including Cost Savings, Quality Measures, Product Cost, Productivity, Escapes and First Pass Yields
- Drives deployment of Built in Quality, leads the reduction in quality escapes, Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ), and Materials Review Board (MRB) utilization.
- Participates with the New Product Development (NPD) Engineers and the Integrated Product Delivery and Support (IPDS) process (Phase 1-5) for product transition into manufacturing including supporting the sign-off approval process. Responsible for Phase 6 programs including identification of Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) gaps.
- Support the Quality Management System (QMS) policies and procedures. Develop, document and train step by step method sheets and work instructions for making products to have a work cell incorporation. Ensure correct tooling and factory test equipment are available and in use. Support all internal and regulatory audits as required. Also identify Root Cause Corrective Actions using processes such as Corrective Action Mistake-Proofing (CAMP). Drive changes to Design Engineering regarding issues impacting product integrity.
- Responsible for analysis and identification of capital equipment needs to address gaps in capacity, including AR creation, process management and installation. Responsible for adherence to department Burden, Tooling and Momentum budgets.
- Execute and manage projects (such as cost reduction, transitions, etc.) and allocate funding as appropriate. Coordinate resources to align with project and factory needs. Responsible for identifying alternate solutions to mitigate quality and schedule risk.
- Provide technical leadership to ensure improvements or achievement of AOP in the following: On-Time Delivery, PPM, Escapes, Cycle-time Reduction, First Pass Yield, Turn Around Time, Inventory Reduction, COPQ and Safety.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering or related technical field plus 5 years of directly related experience in Quality and/or Product Engineering; in lieu of this combination 10 years experience in Quality and/or Product Engineering may be considered.
- Must be a US citizen or permanent resident due to ITAR restrictions

- Solid understanding of manufacturing techniques and their impact on costs including continuous improvement. Able to make decisions to positively impact the operations.
- Knowledge, skill and experience with wide range of manufacturing processes
- Possesses financial acumen, understands business metrics and how to impact results
- Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate project status and program needs across different levels of the organization and different operating environments
- Able to deal tactfully and confidently with internal, external customers and suppliers at all organizational levels
- Demonstrates leadership skills, able to influence and provide visionary leadership
- Proficient in project management skills with the ability to close initiatives on time and within budget
- Results focused with successful record of accomplishments through skilled use of influence, persuasion, negotiation, and problem resolution.
- Results oriented, self motivated, process driven.
- Green Belt or DFSS certification a plus. Demonstrated ability to use six sigma tools preferred.
- Working knowledge of SAP relative to Manufacturing and/or Quality Engineering requirements to include entry and maintenance.
- Program Management Institute Professional Project Manager Certification or ASQ CQE a plus.
- Excellent computer skills including EXCEL and MS Project
- Working knowledge of HOS where applicable.
