Sr Mechanical Design/Retro-commissioning Engineer

Primary Job Responsibilities Our Anchorage, Alaska Federal Operations group is looking to add a Mechanical Engineer with a background in building mechanical design, Energy conservation and retrocomissioning (RCx). Responsibilities include: Providing technical direction of a group of engineers or functions as a technical specialist formulating and developing advanced engineering concepts, techniques, and standards. Develops solutions to complex problems that require a high degree of innovation and ingenuity. Leading a group of commissioning professionals in the planning phase, Investigation phase and implementation phase of retro-commissioning projects. Conducting field investigations to obtain data regarding existing conditions and to identify energy conservation opportunities Writing RCx plans, reports and providing presentations of findings to clients. Performing Lead Engineering duties on mechanical design of building systems including: air and water cooled chiller systems, steam, and hot water systems, two and four pipe systems, primary, secondary and tertiary pumping systems, water coupled and geothermal systems, airflow/PID diagrams, analog and digital controls, sequences, specialized air and fluid filtration systems, refrigerant based systems, constant and variable volume air-handling systems, HVAC and piping. Authoring technical reports and studies including but not limited to commissioning reports, condition assessments and energy assessments. Reviews drawings supplied by vendors, clients, and engineers and architects and recommends necessary changes. Assists with other duties assigned by Project Manager. Training and Experience Experience and training: Bachelors or Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university is required Current Professional Engineering license is required LEED commissioning experience a plus - Experience with ASHRAE and/or PECI Cx and RETRO-Cx procedures and protocols a plus Certification as a Energy Manager (CEM by AEE) is desired but not required Minimum of five years in performing retro-commissioning services 10-15 years design experience in commercial and industrial building systems (HVAC, etc ) is required Experience in performing projects as a LEED AP is desired but not required Must exhibit a strong desire to take ownership of deliverables and have good presentation skills Experience with one or more of the following design tools is preferred: hourly load energy simulation software such as Trane TRACE 700 or Carrier HAP; hydraulic modeling software such as Pipe-Flo; and life cycle costing software such as BLCC. Experience with similar software packages is also acceptable Other Essential Functions Other Requirements
