Sr Mechanical Engineer I (Sr. Machinist Mate)

Job Description: Performs technical tasks in support of Liquid Conditioning Cooling System (LCCS) Test Evaluation (TE) efforts. Analyzes equipment failures to determine cause and recommends corrective action. Devises and implements preventive maintenance programs and keeps performance and maintenance records on equipment. Will provide guidance to lower level positions with outlining tasks and checking work correctness. Will assist with measuring monitoring flow rates, temperatures, pressures, and other system indications of the LCCS to establish and verify performance and to localize faults. Will assist with Installs, checks out, operates, maintains, repairs, and modifies LCCS equipment.

Required Skills: Minimum of 6 years of experience operating and maintaining high volume liquid circulation cooling systems. Experience operating and maintaining pumps, circulators, plumbing systems, piping, hoses, manifolds, valves, flow switches, cooling control systems, and heat exchange structures. Experience in assessing the performance of liquid cooling systems, as well as in monitoring, troubleshooting, isolating failures, and removing/replacing failed components in such systems. Ability to read and understand design drawings, specifications, and vendor technical documentation related to high volume liquid circulation cooling systems. Ability to work in noisy environment and ability to lift up to 70 pounds. Ability to climb steep ladders in excess of 50 feet. You must meet the requirements of an extended maritime service physical examination.

Desired Skills: Experience operating and maintaining high volume liquid circulation cooling subsystems that are part of phased-array radar systems in field locations. Ability to work with Propylene Glycol. Working knowledge of basic phased array radar configurations and the cooling requirements of such systems, to include heat exchange design concepts. Experience in the handling and safeguarding of classified national security information. Experience supporting test and integration efforts of phased-array radar systems, as well as documenting such actions in support of same. Experience working with design engineers in a test, evaluation, and integration environment.

Work Environment: This position is required to possess and maintain a Secret Security Clearance. Works extended rotations (multiple weeks) on an ocean-going marine vessel. Assignment will require travel to Hawaii and Alaska.

Required Education (including Major): Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering; or Associates degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and 10 years of related experience; or High School Diploma and 14 years of related experiences.
