Sr. Mechanical Engineer II

This is a temporary position with Raytheon.

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer II, you will develop, plan, and design facility components including HVAC, piping, plumbing and fire protection systems, which will include construction drawings and specifications, cost and quantity estimates, and analysis (heat loss/gain calculations, mechanical, critical power - fuel distribution systems, and structural).  You should be familiar with the IBC, BOCA, ASME, ANSI, ASHRAE, and NFPA codes. You will be responsible for technical coordination, as well as cost and schedule performance of the project design.  Additionally, you will provide direction and consultation on mechanical issues at various sites and be responsible for technical work performed by lower level engineers. You should be able to work effectively in a team setting. As a senior engineer, you will be expected to work with minimal technical direction and at a high level of independence in resolving technical problems and establishing the approach for a solution.

 

Required Skills:  As a Senior Mechanical Engineer II with this group, you must have a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, a Professional Engineer's license in Mechanical Engineering and at least 8-10 years experience in HVAC, piping, plumbing and fire protection design,.  Your experience should include the development of data, drawings, and specifications to permit the detailed layout and construction of complex designs.  You should have a good understanding of basic building code requirements and of general construction practices, including new facility construction, upgrades of existing facilities, and other related construction work.  You should have the ability to work effectively in a multi-task environment, and have good project management skills.  You must possess strong communication skills and be comfortable in performing presentations for customers. You must have the willingness and ability to travel about 15-20% of the time to various construction sites at domestic or international locations. You must have a current security clearance or the ability to obtain one.

 

Desired Skills:  Prior radar site design experience and/or prior federal government contract experience is desired.  Experience with electrical systems is a must. Experience with AutoCAD is a must and experience with other Autodesk products and Microstation a plus.

 

Required Education:  You must have the minimum of a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering
