Sr. Medical Epidemiologist

Location:  CDC/Atlanta, GA. 

Government Contract:  1 year/option for 3 years

Salary:  $100K/yr. + (depending on experience)

Full Time (40 hrs. /wk.)

 

Independently provide Domestic Medical/Scientific Support Services to satisfy the overall operational objectives of the Global Immunization Division (GID), located in the CDC Atlanta Routine Immunization Team, Strengthening Immunization Systems Branch.  Services as defined herein are inclusive of but not limited to the following:

 

Requirements:

 

·         Since this is a government contract, one of the following requirements must be met:  You must be a US citizen, a naturalized citizen, or born abroad to US citizen(s).

Provide technical assistance and support for the delivery of routine immunization services in Africa as follow:

·         Contribute to the reinforcement of planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of immunization operations;

o   Monitoring and evaluating the impact of Routine Immunization in improving the national coverage of children;

o   Timely analysis and interpretation of the routine immunization data and its use for corrective actions.

 

·         Provide training in Routine Immunization activities to reduce large number of unvaccinated children.

·         Assist in organizing creative and innovative Routine Immunization activities.

·         Undertake operational research in order to improve Routine Immunization activities.

·         Produce reports and relevant documents on innovative Routine Immunization activities.

·         Support the development of the micro plans for implementation of the Reach Every District approach.

·         Ensure the proper implementation of routine immunization service delivery through Capacity Building and supportive supervision.

·         Support the Ministry of Health (MoH) with the Coordination of partners on all the activities related to routine immunization.

·         Support the MoH to improve and participating in communication activities and ensuring community participation.

·         2 trips to the continent of Africa for an estimated total of 20 days of TDY.

·         Minimum 7 years of experience in public health.  

·         Background in epidemiology and disease knowledge.

·         Ability to speak French.  

·         Experience planning and evaluating immunization programs, including campaigns and routine immunization.

·         Experience living in third world countries.

·         Experience working in DR Congo.

·         Comprehensive working knowledge of and experience working in immunization systems and familiarity with the specifics of these systems specifically in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and other African countries.

·         Experience working in complex collaborative environments and with multilateral organizations with partners such as ministries of health, the World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs).
