The Cyber and Information Solutions Business Unit currently has an opening for Sr. Micro Electronics Assembler. Job Overview: The successful candidate will be an important part of a team, capable of working independently or with limited oversight in a team environment. Candidate must be available to work extended hours as required to meet critical program schedules. Summary: Assembles electronic components, prototype, subassemblies, products, or systems. Must possess a solid understanding of IPC Class 2, Class 3 and J-STD requirements, as well as demonstrated ability to perform IPC Class 2 or 3-level Soldering on both SMT and through-hole parts. Duties Responsibilities: 1. Well developed ability to work from engineering drawings following both verbal and written instructions with minimal guidance on all tasks. 2. Demonstrates advanced skills in the ability to work with very small micro-electronics and complete the assemblies without an assembly drawing under a quick reaction capability environment in which there is no time to develop the drawings. 3. Possess superior soldering skills to include the capability of performing visual inspection to identify good or bad solder joints and perform solder rework replacing defective components and wiring as needed to attain conformance. 4. Must be detail oriented and use effective verbal and written skills to communicate while contributing in a team environment. 5. Required to work accurately under a microscope for extended periods of time and capable to sit/stand up to eight (8) hours per day. 6. Must be proficient with wave solder techniques, selective solder, cleaning and inspection. Must also have experience with electronic circuitry testing. Support activities including ordering supplies, tooling and establishing requirements for materials. Additional Required Skills: This individual should also have the ability to adapt to a changing work environment to meet organizational demands. The micro electronic assembler is responsible for developing custom, complex printed circuit boards and cables under a quick reaction, very challenging environment. Key to satisfying the requirements of this program is the ability to work with very small state-of-the-art packaging approaches (flip chip, chip on flex, MCM, SIP etc.) to include manual/hand soldering of the latest miniature surface-mount components, e.g. 0402, 0201, and 01005 resistors, capacitors, and inductors. Assembly and inspection using high magnification: 5-200X, typical magnification is ~50X, working at higher level magnification is also required. This position requires hands-on flip chip assembly with the ultra fine soldering irons utilizing solder bump, gold stud bump, conductive epoxy, and underfill attachment methods The assembler must be adept at using fine tweezers and manipulating components, and capable of specifying and using supplies and materials for microelectronics assembly: solder, flux, underfill, carriers, chemicals, washes, adhesives. Inspection of incoming circuit boards to IPC standards along with assembled solder joints die attach connections is also required. Qualifications: .TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school education or equivalent and 4+ years of technical training/experience.
