Sr. Network Administrator Job in Alpharetta 30022, Georgia US

Job Summary:

Lead the IT team in ensuring the stability and security of the Ipswitch network.

 

Responsibilities and Essential Duties:

·         Work with area management to plan and manage network security.  Lead the IT team in the implementation and ongoing enforcement of security initiatives.

·         Maintain a high level of availability, stability, and performance for all network servers, workstations, and network services.  Act proactively to improve performance of all systems.

·         Manage and maintain network alert system.  Lead the IT Team in the response to network outages, performance degradations, and other network problems on/off business hours.

·         Prepare incident reports related to emerging issues and prepare written plans for outage prevention.  Lead the IT team in the implementation of such plans.

·         Manage and maintain software licensing and hardware inventory.  Update and audit licensing and inventory on an annual basis. 

·         Maintain relationship with hardware/software vendors and lead the IT Team in the acquisition and installation of new hardware/software.

·         Seek out areas for improvement in network performance and security.  Develop written proposals and written plans for network and security initiatives and communicate them clearly to all affected personnel.

·         Ensure effective operation of all Internet connections.

·         Manage virus protection and detection on all servers and workstations.  Maintain a virus-free network.

·         Lead the IT Team in the enforcement of IT and company policies regarding the security and acceptable use of information technology.

·         Maintain currency with emerging security threats and preventative measures and technologies.

·         Support the IT Helpdesk by responding quickly and appropriately to help requests.

·         Build, repair, and configure desktops and at times servers.  Support systems training for new hires.

·         Effectively communicate with management and teammates in all stages of work.

·         Perform training classes for end users on various corporate applications

 

Education and/or Experience:

·         MCSE certification

·         At least 4 years experience in a leading network administration role with Windows 2000, 2003 and/or 2008.

·         At least 4 years experience in a leading role with networking, server, and workstation hardware

·         At least 4 years experience in a leading network security role.

·         Experience with Cisco routers (CCNA a Plus)

·         Experience with DNS/BIND

·         4 year college degree in a related technical discipline.

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Demonstrated proficiency in technical writing is required.

·         Demonstrated project discipline and experience.  Must be organized, focused, and driven toward established deliverable dates.

·         Strong interpersonal skills; must be a team player.

·         Understanding of business and technical process interrelationships is critical.
