Sr. Network Engineer
The Enterprise Infrastructure Global Network Services division is responsible for the Fidelity Investments enterprise voice, data, perimeter security and multimedia networks. A position in the GNS division with in the Network Capacity and Performance team will be doing characterization, capacity planning and performance management on the core network technologies: routers, voice switches, Ethernet switches, carrier connectivity, perimeter security firewalls, layer three proxies, traffic management appliances, and gateway and file transfer services.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Performs network engineering tasks for multiple projects supporting several company/division initiatives in the area of Characterization and Capacity planning.
- Performs independent and complex analysis for multiple projects around Characterization and Capacity planning.
- Integrates new services/solutions into the environment by developing the appropriate standards and procedures.
- Plans and implements environmental enhancements
- Performs critical troubleshooting of hardware/software and assists business units with problem identification and resolution in the area of network performance management
- Provides technical support for complex problems in the area of network performance
- Assists business units with planning and implementation of complex network related issues, software and hardware
Education and Experience:
- Experience with/knowledge of network tools (ex. Sniffers, data capture tools)
- Experience with/knowledge of reading TCP dumps
- Considerable SUN Solaris / Linux /AIX TCP administration experience
- Experience with LDAP (SUN Once, Microsoft ADS, VDS, etc.)
- Network and Firewall technologies knowledge and experience
- C++, C, or Java development experience
Skills and Knowledge:
- Knowledge of network technologies
- Knowledge of PERL, CGI, JAVA, VB and web development tools
