Job Description: Network Engineer
- Cisco Certified Engineer with experience in Advance Routing/Switching. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Advanced working knowledge (from a Management perspective) of complex LAN and Wan environments, including VoIP and structured cabling in required. Cisco device programming and troubleshooting including routers CatOS, IOS and NxOS switches, ASA, ACE, CSS, GSS, VPN and wireless.
- The role requires design and implementation experience with Security and WAN Acceleration technology. Candidate must have knowledge of a wide mix of security vendor products/technology. Preference for the following:
1. Checkpoint
2. Cisco
3. Barracuda
- Extensive knowledge of Cisco IP Telephony applications, including the configuration and deployment of Cisco Communications Manager and Cisco Unity.
- Expectation is that individual will have excellent knowledge of VPN, PKI, Digital Signatures, Smart Cards, IPS, NAC, Firewalls, data encryption, enterprise anti-virus/anti-malware, system hardening, and wireless security.
- Acts as a team leader to direct the work of others, assign personnel to various projects, and evaluate the work performed. Provides mentoring, direction and guidance to lesser-experienced network administration staff to assist them in their role and understanding of complex network administration.
- Plans and evaluates the most complex existing network systems and makes recommendations for resources required to maintain and/or expand current and/or projected service levels.
- Provides the highest level of technical leadership in network planning, engineering and architecture.
- Develops technical standards and interface applications, identifies and evaluates new products, and provides resolution for highly complex network problems or issues.
- May interface with vendors to identify and recommend hardware and software solutions.

- Ensures workstation/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions.
- Provides recommendations to senior or executive IT management regarding hardware and system software planning and budgeting.
- Provides direction and guidance to lesser-experienced network administration staff to assist them in their role and understanding of more complex network administration.
- Maintains and increases professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops and participating in professional development activities.
- Microsoft product lines including Windows 2008, Active Directory, Exchange 2010 and VMware product line including VMware 4.x, and VMware View.
- Understanding of storage technologies SAN and NAS. A detailed understanding that includes: TCP/IP routing protocols, NAT, BGP4, IGP, DNS, firewall policies, geo-load balancing, proxy and cache Servers, VPN technologies, and layer 4-7 switching Designs and/or approves architecture of new systems and technologies.
- Required Network Routing and Protocol Knowledge: MPLS, OSPF, VRRP / HSRP, Multicast routing, Trunking, Link Aggregation / Channeling, BGP, ISIS, EIGRP, Radius, Tacacs+ Knowledge Skills Abilities Extensive knowledge and understanding of network technologies as normally obtained through the completion of a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
- Must have sufficient educational background and/or experience to qualify incumbent to work at the highest technical level on all phases of network administration and engineering.
- 5-7 years of LAN switching and WAN technologies, or experience involving transmission/traffic engineering and operations also required.
- Proven experience in Cisco routing and switching technologies, Unity voice communication, Checkpoint security and Microsoft server environment.

- Interview Info: phone interview first with the senior network engineer. If that goes well, there will be a personal with the CIO AND the team.
- Work Environment: 500+ employees total. This person needs To be able To work in a very fast paced environment. Must be able to multi task.
- Business Challenge Client is Tasked with Solving : Right now business continuity testing is only done once Per year because the manager has too much on his plate. This person will allow for testing To be done twice Per year AND will cause the network not To failover, thereby increasing productivity AND revenue.
- Impact to the Internal/External Customer?: Ensuring the network will remain up AND running so that employees can be fully productive.
- Non-technical Skills (i.e., communication, problem solving, etc.): : Extensive knowledge AND proven skill with highly complex network Technologies required. Additionally, knowledge AND skill with hardware AND software required for connectivity AND installation operations as described above. Experience with the supervision OR direction of other systems Administration staff preferred. Must be able To communicate well with others, To perform work in a team environment, direct AND act as a resource for less experienced network administrators AND relay necessary information as appropriate. Must possess the Ability To prioritize AND perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
