The SAIC Intelligence Systems Business Unit has an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced Senior Network Engineer at the Washington Navy Yard. The successful candidate will be able to work on complex problems where analysis of system issues will require independent research and creative solutions. Proven experience in understanding the design considerations that go into a network that supports a system of systems configuration is required. The successful candidate will have a formal engineering background and experience designing, developing and implementing DoD computer networks. This should include previous experience in the configuration of switches, routers and other network devices in a secure DoD environment. Ideal candidate will have experience working with little or no supervision and may be responsible for assigning other staff responsibilities and action plans. Ability to receive action items and meet measurable goals. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Make recommendations for new technologies to further enhance current networks capabilities. Will be supporting the full system engineering life cycle. This includes working with the customer and team of engineers to provide requirements, analysis, design and development. Will also need to be able to support routers, switches, LANs, VLANS, VPS, NAT devices and/or DHCP servers. Providing research and resolution reported by customer and team. Past experience with integration, testing and implementation is essential. Also responsible for guiding and working with engineers to identify networking issues and working with other engineers to diagnose and resolve critical escalated issues as well as identify product issues. Candidate must be confident with your experience around Cisco Routers and switches. CCNP a plus! Understanding of networking fundamentals are essential. Understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model is very important. Desired Experience Strong Networking background in a DoD environment. Must be a self-starter and have the flexibility to provide varying levels of support to the project, work well with limited oversight, and be able to manage tasks and requirements in a fast paced engineering team environment. The position requires good team work skills since the individual will guide and some times direct other team members to support an SAIC program while working on the customer site. Qualifications: The ability to document and communicate complex design considerations is required. 10+ years experience supporting the full system engineering life cycle. Current IAT Level II certifications. Experience with accrediting DoD systems and Information Assurance The candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Information Systems Engineering or related technical discipline and 10+ years of network engineering experience. Fundamentals of network architecture/design, especially as it relates to troubleshooting network problems for both Local Area Networks (LAN) and Wide Area Networks (WAN). Analyze and document an existing Wide Area Network (WAN) infrastructure. Design, implement, and configure network connectivity solutions using Cisco equipment. Previous experience developing network standards is desired.
