GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Senior Operations Research Analyst will be involved in articulating data-driven solutions that inform decision making for internal clients, and in developing methods or processes for implementation. The Senior Operations Research Analyst will be expected to have a deep understanding of Operations Research methodologies in order to complete unstructured assignments with little supervision. The Senior Analyst will be expected to manage expectations of internal clients through direct and routine interaction with internal clients.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide analytical support to Laureate Education business units in the following areas, and using some or all of the following quantitative methodologies:
- Call center planning.
- Course scheduling.
- Faculty staffing.
- Facility location.
- Space planning (dorms, classrooms).
- Inventory management.
- Stochastic simulation.
- Mathematical optimization (linear programming, non-linear programming, integer programming).
- Preparation of complex transactional data.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Graduate degree in Operations Research or related field required.
- 3 or more years experience in analytics role.
- Excellent programming skills in Visual Basic, C++ or another object oriented languages.
- Prior practical experience with SAS, SQL programming.
- Prior experience in working with relational databases such as Oracle, SQL server etc.
- Prior experience using at least one mathematical programming modeling language (e.g. AMPL) and solver (e.g. CPLEX).
- Hands on experience in designing and coding decision support systems with an analytical framework.
- Call center analytical support experience preferred.
- Experience with a discrete event simulation application (e.g. ARENA) preferred.
- The candidate filling this position must be highly motivated and instinctively takes initiative.
- Must be able to work across organizational and geographical boundaries as required and have the ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
- The successful candidate must work effectively in a multi-matrix organization and have strong problem solving skills.
- This position requires an individual with strong analytical skills, as well as superior written/verbal communication and presentation skills.
- The candidate should have good time management and organizational skills.
- The candidate should be willing to challenge status quo methodologies and use of data-driven insights to drive business process.
- Must have experience working on multiple projects at the same time.
