Volt Technical Resources has a Direct Hire opportunity available in Redmond, WA for a Sr. Optical Software Engineer.
Position Description:
This position involves the planning, specification and creation of software applications utilizing light and color measurement systems.
The ideal candidate possesses both strong technical skills as well as excellent communication skills. Domestic and International travel may be required to:
- Support Our Client's customers and distributors.
- Implement applications.
- Perform in-depth training.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
- Planning, specification, creation and documentation of software solutions utilizing Our Client's light and color measurement products.
- Educating customers and international distributors on proper use of CCD (Charge-Coupled Device) based hardware and software systems for light and color measurement.
- Performing installation and training of products at the customer's facilities.
- Providing Application Note Development for Our Client's products.
- Providing Expert-level Technical Support for both customers and internal personnel.

Requirements:
Required Skills for this Sr. Optical Software Engineer position include the following:
- Bachelor's degree or higher Physics or a related technical discipline (i.e. Math, Engineering)
- Experience in Computer Programming for Scientific applications
- Skill and experience in Optical Engineering and/or Light and Color Measurement techniques
- Experience with Scientific Measurement Instrumentation
- Strong mathematical skills
- Mechanical Design experience a plus
- Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting and organizational skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to interface equally well with customers, Sales staff and Product Development Engineers, as well as Production Managers in a team-oriented environment
- A proven record of accomplishment with excellent references
The Applicant is ideally familiar with Software Programming, the practical and theoretical aspects of Light Measurement, Optical Engineering Software, and Elementary Electrical Engineering principles, as well as Software Control of Scientific Hardware.
