Job Description
· Provide day-to-day support for 24x7 Oracle databases and services. Available for after-hour on-call support
· Implement, test and maintain backup and recovery procedures using RMAN
· Install, maintain and refresh Oracle databases for development, test and production environments
· Perform database patching, upgrade and migration as necessary
· Responsible for maintaining database configurations in compliance with security policy and standard; establish and manage user access, design and implement security architecture.
· Monitor security breaches, error logs, space, user activity and resource utilization of production environment. Ensure production systems meet performance and availability requirements
· Develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of the database architecture and the application functionality for multiple, complex applications
· Responsible for database design and implementation for various projects
· Provide expert assistance in SQL statement tuning, indexing, and partitioning to improve application performance
· Work with other teams to promote changes to production and other environments
Qualifications:
· Working Experience in supporting 24*7 mission critical databases
· Hands-on skills and knowledge of Oracle 10g/11g database design, implementation, and administration in Linux, UNIX and Solaris environments
· Experience in RMAN backup and recovery
· Strong skill and knowledge in performance tuning from both database design and SQL coding perspectives
· Good understanding of RAC, physical and logical standby, and other high availability and disaster recovery technologies
· Experience in both logical and physical RDBMS designs
· Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, and excellent learning abilities
· Advanced multitasking capabilities and a strong team player
· Excellent oral and written communication skills
Experience:
· 4+ years experience in Oracle database administration and development
· 4 year college degree in computer and related fields is preferred
· Proficient in Unix shell script program is a plus
· Knowledge and experience in DB2 is a plus
