GENERAL SUMMARY:

Laureate Inc. is currently looking to add a qualified Senior Software Engineer expertise in Oracle Development to our staff of Software engineers . Applicants should have a strong background in Oracle development in support of enterprise applications and willing to learn new technologies. Successful applicants are technology leaders and will have a minimum 5+ years of experience in delivering solutions. The position works with various software developers, product managers, Project Managers and Subject Matter experts to create industry leading software functionality.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

*Designs, codes, test, implements, and maintains business applications and functionality
*Performs complex design activities that requires extensive research and analysis.
*Participates in Major implementation projects and support operational teams .
*Participates in architecture development, implementation and refactoring.
*Researches and implements new technologies
*Mentors and coaches junior development staff in coding, design
*Works with delivery team clients, Managers and team members in identifying integration approaches and addressing data concerns as required.
*Responsible for the detail design documentation, development, unit testing and maintenance of internally developed applications
*When needed, should be able to lead projects as a solution manager.

*5+ years of experience in database architecture and best practices for Oracle SQL and PL/SQL coding style and application tuning.
*Knowledge of SCT Banner is a plus
*3+years of Oracle Forms9i development is required.
*Oracle 10G experience in complex application development is required.
*Strong development experience with Oracle PL/SQL: construction of packages, triggers and PL/SQL blocks and Unix shell scripting.
*Experience with Oracle data warehousing involving large amount of data.
*Experience in XML parsing and loading into Oracle, XSD style sheets, Oracle XML packages is preferred.
*Experience in performance tuning, application monitoring and support of production applications.
*Write code for enhancing existing programs or developing new programs.
*Experience with writing detailed technical specifications for developers; design, validate and execute software test plans.
*Perform unit testing and debugging and set test conditions based on code specifications.
*Supports application throughout the Product Development life cycle.
*Detailed understanding of coding design and documentation protocol as well as unit testing, change management and release procedures.
*Strong analysis and design skills required.
*Working knowledge of SQL Server is preferred.
*Experience with Java 1.4 and/or 1.5 J2EE 1.4 (JSP and Servlets).
*Demonstrated experience using debugging tools, processes, and techniques.
*Demonstrated experience using versioning tools required.
*Excellent in impact-analysis and root cause analysis.
*Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities with ability to anticipate and avoid problems.
*Ability to define and implement migration strategies from legacy systems to new architecture and technologies.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related experience.
