SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Director of Array Technology, the Sr. Photolithography Engineer will work with a premier group of engineers and technicians at the cutting edge of optical coating manufacturing technology to build complex patterned and assembled optical components; supervise and support design and production of such optics while continuously improving equipment, materials, training and methods of fabrication. Higher yields, lower costs and new mechanical performance records will be the benchmarks of success. The Sr. Photolithography Engineer will lead and contribute to all aspects of custom thin-film filter manufacturing, including requirement definition, new product development, process development and improvement, cost estimation and quoting, mechanical stress analysis, manufacturing instructions, fixture design, test plans, data analysis, documentation and final data packages

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

§  Ensures vitality of Materion’s core process capabilities

§  Establishes process metrics

§  Assists in development of new processes to make products 

§  Ensures all necessary process documentation (PPAP, FMEA, control plans) exists and reside in ERP

§  Oversees and validates SPC and process improvement efforts

§  Supports cross-training efforts in the photolithography lab 

§  Manages and participates in process change control via QSI. 

§  Specifies new equipment needs 

§  Supports Manufacturing Engineer with in process review of production and MRB 

§  Supports Product and Process Engineering in achieving or exceeding predicted process capability, yield and OEE

§  Designs tooling and masking with Product Engineer 

 

FORMAL EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

§  Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or other Science discipline and 5 years hands-on optical coating experience preferred

§  Thorough knowledge and experience with deposition of optical thin-film materials

§  Thorough understanding of ion sources

§  Thorough knowledge of optical thin-film design and deposition thickness control methods

§  Strong understanding of mechanical drawings, metrology, and 3D CAD

§  Experience with photolithography, precision dicing and micro assembly is highly desired  

§  Thorough knowledge of state-of-the-art vacuum coating equipment and familiarity with clean room practices

§  Strong understanding of optical testing as related to interference coatings with optics and optical systems background

§  Ability to effectively manage multiple concurrent projects under accelerated schedules

§  Superior documentation skills

§  Proven leader and self-motivator that can develop standards and improve processes with little supervision

§  Troubleshooting skills and knowledge of six sigma lean practices

§  Working knowledge of ITAR
