Sr. Portfolio Manager – Fixed Income recruitment

The acquisition presented both companies with an opportunity to expand and enhance their resources, services and global presence by combining complementary areas of expertise.

The Sr. Portfolio Manager is responsible for the development and implementation of fixed income investment strategy, along with the effective management of a highly customized and dedicated book of business. This requires the monitoring of global macro events and assessing the implications on global credit markets.  The Sr. Portfolio Manager will assess and analyze various bond markets both globally as well as domestically, while determining absolute and relative valuations in both the taxable and tax exempt bond markets including government, credit, and mortgage backed debt.  The hired individual will be responsible for the integration of both global macro and market valuation into a well-defined investment view, rationale, and portfolio management strategy that will be applied across a disparate client base.  The Sr. Portfolio Manager will also play a leadership role for the fixed income team and will be expected to assist with team oversight and staff development. 

Additional responsibilities include:

• Manage assigned client accounts according to specific client investment objectives and constraints.  This includes idea generation, execution of strategies and monitoring of assets to ensure maximization of portfolio performance. 

• Interface and collaborate with the fixed income research team; monitor portfolio cash balances, review portfolio investment results, turn research ideas into recommendations, share information on major economic forces and industry trends. 

• Articulate the firm’s fixed income resources, capabilities, philosophy and approach to managing assets on behalf of individuals, family offices and foundations. 

• Articulate current economic and market views, outlook, portfolio positioning and portfolio construction.  Create presentation material that assists clients in understanding market dynamics and implications on investment management strategy and portfolios.

• Deliver fixed income investment presentations to existing clients, prospective clients and internal stakeholders. 

• Work closely with portfolio managers and marketing to implement and execute broad investment themes and strategies. 

• Work with members of the business development team to define and develop appropriate responses to prospective client inquiries. 

• Assist with the management of the fixed income team to ensure the group achieves its strategic goals and objectives. 

We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or Master’s degree preferred. 

• Minimum of 20 years taxable fixed income experience required.

• Minimum of 10 years direct municipal portfolio management and investment research experience required.

• Complete knowledge of the investment industry along with the professional ability to analyze, interpret, and present statistics in both written and oral presentations. 

• Previous experience with High Net Worth fixed income client profile and objectives, and familiarity with trading, marketing and research functions. 

• Previous experience leading and influencing professional-level fixed income staff

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to represent the firm at professional and business functions.

• Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail.

• Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment.

• Ability to interact with senior management on a regular basis.
