The Sr. Product Engineer will report to the Chief Administrative Officer and will be responsible for working with targeted clients and prospects to design and develop customized, outcome-oriented multi-asset portfolios for their unique risk and return profiles. The individual must have demonstrated experience and familiarity with conducting capital market research, asset/liability modeling, and actuarial statistical analyses. Knowledge with the latest risk management analytical tools and financial engineering techniques is also required.
This candidate should be familiar with the breadth of macro-economic data, technical and fundamental valuations, and possess a strong background in the use of asset allocation products. The candidate should also be well-versed in the latest multi-asset portfolio construction tools including futures, forwards, options, and other derivatives. The candidate will be required to work closely with the portfolio implementation team to translate broad asset allocation models into tactical trading portfolios.
The individual must be able to communicate the results of the customized analyses to clients, exhibiting a deep understanding of the independent financial variables and the resulting portfolio implications of multi-scenario capital market simulations. In this role, the individual must demonstrate the ability to actively liaison between the portfolio implementation team, the sales and client service team, and the client along with their investment consultant.
The required technical skills must be complimented by strong written and verbal communication needed to support the team's business development efforts with key institutional clients, working in collaboration with US and international distribution partners. This individual must be able to work with potential clients on the design of multi-asset investment strategies designed to meet their unique needs and circumstances. These strategies must be translated into concrete, actionable portfolio strategies for which Franklin Templeton Investments can generate revenues.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Develop longer-term capital markets assumptions on a variety of asset classes to be used in strategic asset allocation modeling.
- Conduct on-going capital market research to adjust strategic asset allocations in conjunction with changing market dynamics.
- Work with the Franklin Templeton Multi-Asset Strategies team and other Franklin Templeton portfolio managers to enhance and improve existing investment strategies.
- Deliver actionable, multi-asset portfolio recommendations to clients based upon discussions with their senior decision makers.
- Act as a point of contact for various Franklin Templeton portfolio management teams in support of winning new portfolio mandates.
- Possess the ability to translate clients' investment needs into multi-asset, quantitative strategies and deliver these strategies back to the client in a manner that will lead to new business opportunities.
Additional requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Financial Engineering, or related field.
- Graduate or Master's level education and CFA preferred.
- Strong understanding of various asset classes combined with experience in designing and developing customized multi-asset portfolios for clients.
- Previous experience partnering with distribution and client service teams to service key institutional clients.
- Knowledge of derivatives and portfolio construction techniques.
- Knowledge of the latest risk management analytical tools.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate the results of customized analysis to institutional clients.
- Ability to work well in a collaborative environment.
- Excellent problem solving and analytical thinking abilities.
- Some travel may be required.
