ITT Exelis in Van Nuys, CA is looking for a Sr. Program Manager with thirteen years experience and a bachelor's degree who can excel in supporting our Program Management team.
Our Program Management team is looking for a results-oriented individual with effective technical and communication skills who can perform the following duties:
Responsible for the financial, applicable technology, and schedule performance of major development and/or production program(s) within cost limitations and established standards.
This individual may coordinate proposal preparations, statements of work and specifications, estimation of product/service costs, negotiation and administration of contracts. Other responsibilties include: Establishment of milestones and monitoring adherence to program master plans and schedules; Development of control systems and reports that accurately measure progress, identifying potential problems in sufficient time for corrective action to be taken, and insuring the meeting of company's contract commitments.
This individual also coordinates the performance of program functional task elements such as procurement, manufacturing, quality control, logistics, and administrative functions; Serves as primary customer contact on status and performance and anticipates and fulfills customer needs to ensure their satisfaction and continued business.
In addition, this individual is responsible for achieving sales and gross margin objectives of assigned program(s) with typical values up to twenty million dollars; Makes frequent decisions with direct impact on company profit and loss position.
-Bachelor's degree in engineering, scientific specialty, or business administration or equivalent education and experience.
-At least 13 years progressively more responsible, high technology, aerospace experience commercial, industrial, or government including at least five years in project or program management and ten years experience at management level.
-Broad, general knowledge of all aspects of the aerospace industry including development and production of complex electronic devices or systems.
-General knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and industrial engineering principles and their application to military systems.
-Specific knowledge of project cost and schedule control techniques.
-Knowledge of business finance and accounting principles and measures of financial performance.
-Ability to exercise exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills.
-Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
-Frequent contacts internally with senior management and the unit president. Occasional contacts with Exelis staff and group executives.
-Frequent external contact with customers at a senior decision-making level. Occasional contact at the general officer and political executive level, both foreign and domestic.
