Sr. Project Buyer
Job Description Helps the project team define the Valeo requirements and QCD objectives. Challenges make or buy choices. Ensures that technological choices will not limit supplier competition. Challenges the breakdown of the final product into different components/functions, and ensures that component standards and standardization opportunities are complied with. Consults with the supply base (including VIP suppliers) and any other potential suppliers. Leads the supplier selection process. Uses functional specifications as a basis of consultation and ensures suppliers ideas are taken into account. Integrates suppliers in phase 0 or 1 and initiates collaboration with the project platform. Initiates value analyses to ensure target costs are met. Facilitates communication between suppliers and the various project team members. Provides feedback from the Purchasing Department to the Project Team and works in coordination with the relevant family buyers and Supplier Quality Team members. Job Duties and Responsibilities: Compiles and distributes Request of Quote packages (using E-Tender as required) for ongoing and future program content, ensuring all necessary and pertinent information is communicated. Negotiates supplier contracts and quotations. Achieves SuMo, SuRe, LCC, and -30 objectives. Leads potential source qualification activities (evaluations and on-site assessments). Maintains/updates program cost(s) information in the SAP system, and to support overall project financial tracking. Formalizes the Valeo QAP.pp and associated files; (VRF, QAF, ISF, QMF), with Supplier Panel. Uses PQA and all other required tools in completing and fulfilling responsibilities. Organizes end of stage reviews at the supplier and participate in them with the PQA Specialists. Leads the maintenance of the SRM database. Assists in supplier compliance to / execution of Supplier Quality Manual (V2104), deliverables. Ensures supplier leveraging and synergies are executed. Quotes all products/process change requests and actively participate in the Engineering Change Management System. Executes timely audits of the supply base for accuracy of the piece price and tooling contracts to date (EVAL). Leads or resolves supplier commercial issues. Evaluates supplier quotes for proper and fair costing. Documents all activities as required. Identifies and alerts management and Project Team of any actual or potential issues that would adversely impact project QCD performance. Manages the progress of suppliers projects and validates the PQA stages. Ensures supplier schedules are consistent with the project schedule and they are complied with. Ensures supplier projects comply with Valeos procedures and mandatory contractual obligations. Identifies and records any problems relating to the product, process, or system. Controls further processing and delivery of nonconforming product until the deficiency is corrected. Any additional responsibility as deemed necessary by management. Requirements: Bachelors Degree in Business or related field required. Must have automotive experience in a related position. Basic computer skills. Working knowledge of manufacturing cost methods. Proven negotiation skills. Strong organizational and communication skills. Able to maintain confidentiality on products, services, and processes. Company Profile
