The project manager is responsible for managing operational business process, systems and technology improvement projects in support of Aon standard Client Service delivery. This position reports directly to the VP, National Project Management Office.
Under the functional direction of the VP, National Project Management Office, and in collaboration with project sponsors, team members and other stakeholders, ensures the disciplined, timely and efficient delivery of project deliverables in support of business planning, execution and improvement, as well as National ARS operations.
Operational Excellence
- Manage assigned projects following the Aon standard project management process and protocol in support of National Operations initiatives.
- Create and maintain project plans, facilitate effective communications, and provide timely and concise reports and other documentation to assure orderly execution of assigned projects.
- Lead the project team facilitating communication and collaboration on project objectives and tasks such that work assignments are understood and can be completed effectively.
- Manage project risk and issues, taking appropriate and timely action to mitigate the risk and address the challenges to project success.
- Deliver project results on time and within budget as agreed to with business owner and sponsor.
- Support the business owner in ensuring product deliverables are of an appropriate quality to meet the needs of the business.
- Assist in building and supporting a centralized Program Management Office including, standard processes and functions.
- Identify opportunities and implement approved recommendations for project management standardization according to established plans and industry best practices.
- Coaching of Project team members on Project Management processes.
- Manages projects and work assignments following the Aon standard of Project Management with due regard for approved operational business processes, systems and deliverables in support of Distinctive Client Service Delivery and Operational best practice.
- Create, maintain, and communicate project plans, reports and other project documents demonstrating the value of NPMO best practices of discipline, perseverance, compliance and due diligence.
- As this position will be based out of both our Toronto and Markham offices, flexibility is required.
Talent Management
- Assist the VP, NPMO, to develop and manage Project team(s), and project communication and training, as well as other project resources and best practices.
- Collaborate with HR and Manager to foster positive a employee environment and culture receptive to challenge and change.
- University degree or equivalent designation
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification in good standing
- Minimum of 5-8 years of project management and business process management experience in a structured PMO environment
- Minimum 5-8 years of experience in MS Project. Experience with Enterprise Project Server is an asset.
- BA/BSc/BCom or equivalent degree/designation with 5-8 years related business and project management experience.
- Understanding of Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBoK) and the value of its application.
- Familiarity with technical processes and their relevant application within a business context.
- Solid leadership to manage projects and work and time management and relationship skills necessary to execute against plans
- Experience with operations and information technology including business process management systems, call centre applications, business intelligence and associated tools.
- Good oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and instruct others, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence, speak clearly to managers, partners, and employees.
- Ability to think outside-the-box and deal with novel problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.
- Excellent personal organizational and time management skills.
A capable project manager with project management experience and a commitment to a career in project management. Business process experience and exposure to a variety of product, service and client areas considered an asset.
