Responsibilities

Objective
The Senior Quality Assurance Engineer performs various lead performance duties. The role applies performance testing techniques to ensure predictive performance engineering focus for Moody's applications. The goal is to ensure that systems hardware configuration together with architecture allows for most optimal capacity, performance and scalability. The Senior Quality Assurance Performance Engineer applies and maintains test documentation such as test plans, test cases and automated test scripts. The role requires expertise in modeling and simulation and day to day tasks will be performed with cutting edge performance engineering technologies (such as CA Hyperformix, Shunra and HP Performance Center).

Functional Responsibilities - Specific responsibilities for this position include:
-Applying Predictive IT Management techniques to assist Moodys with configuring systems in the most optimal manner
-Provide performance analysis to assist with hardware and system consolidation efforts
-Create models and run simulations to analyze performance and capacity characteristics
-Setup and configure performance testing tools to gather complete results. Analyze these results to determine next steps. Provide various teams (Infrastructure, Architecture and Development) with recommendations on tuning
-Writing and revising automated test scripts and test documentation for a variety of financial applications, working with other performance engineers, business analysts, product managers and developers to ensure adequate coverage for upcoming production releases
-Planning testing approach, executing tests and reporting the results according to Moody's MIT Performance Testing standards
-Making recommendations, assessing industry best practices and striving for constant improvements to ensure most effective performance testing and engineering approach

Scope/Supervision and Interaction
Likely interactions are with AVP of Performance Testing and Performance Engineers to collaborate on testing workload. Application Development Managers, Technical Leads, Developers, Product Managers, Business Analysts, Quality Assurance Manager and Leads. Interaction will also occur with DBA's, Systems and Network Administrators.

Qualifications
Four-year degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Mathematics and at least 7 years experience in computer systems, software engineering, performance analysis, or at least 10 years equivalent professional experience. Must have knowledge of mainstream operating systems (i.e. Linux, Unix, Windows); basic networking concepts, such as TCP/IP and routing, as well as common hardware architectures; database concepts. Understanding of the client/server paradigm; demonstrated programming skills, preferably in an object-oriented language; knowledge of the following skills: modeling, load testing, or benchmarking; and knowledge of the scientific method. Also, individual should have written and oral communication skills.

The key competencies for this position include:
-Strong understanding of automated performance testing approach, including implementation of automation frameworks.
-Strong understanding of modeling and simulations
-Strong understanding of server virtualization concepts
-Expertise in CA Hyperformix
-Experience with workload planning estimation and test documentation.
-Strong understanding with monitoring concepts and tools
-Excellent skills with object-oriented development languages
-Strong understanding of Web 2.0 technology and testing
-Strong understanding of Server, Network, and database concepts
-Strong understanding of software development life cycle, quality assurance life cycle and testing methodologies.
-Good understanding of test metrics concepts
-Proven expertise in analyzing and understanding business requirements and translating these into test cases and test scripts.
-Excellent oral and written communications skills
-Strong analytical skills
-Ability to multi-task and display flexibility
-Ability to work effectively both in a team environment and independently
-Familiarity with HP Performance Testing Tools: HP Performance Center and/or LoadRunner is a strong plus
-Familiarity with Shunra / any WAN emulation technology is a plus
